FRENCHTOWN — New Jersey police say human remains have been found on an island in the Delaware River.

NJ.com reports a person walking along the island on Tuesday discovered the remains and called Frenchtown police. Authorities didn’t give the exact location of where the remains were found.

Detectives and police responded to the scene to investigate and are working with the New Jersey State Police Missing Persons Unit, the Hunterdon County Medical Examiner's Office and the State Park Police to identify the remains and cause of death.

"The remains were found about 13 miles south of Easton, across the river from Tinicum Township.

Among the missing persons the investigators are likely to consider is Ye Feng, 53, of Scotch Plains, N.J., who disappeared in the river Aug. 2 when his boat capsized near Portland, 27 miles north of Frenchtown."

Skeletal remains found on an island in the Delaware River last week have been identified as those of a fugitive who jumped off a bridge in Bethlehem Township, Pennsylvania, in January, police said Sunday.

Palmer Township Police Detective Jim Alercia told NJ Advance Media the remains have been identified as those of Anthony J. Sisonick III, who was wanted on identity theft, forgery and theft charges when he jumped off the Route 33 bridge.
