Details of Disappearance

Heather was last seen at White Pine Middle School in Ely, Nevada on April 4, 2003. Cigarettes were found in her possession and she was suspended from school as a result. She never returned home has never been heard from again. Authorities believe she left of her own accord.

At the time of her disappearance, Heather was having problems with her stepmother and she missed her brother, who had moved to Oklahoma. None of her relatives, including her family in Oklahoma, has heard from her since she went missing.

Heather's loved ones believe she may have come to harm after running away, as it is uncharacteristic of her to be out of touch with them for this long. Few details are available in her case.

Shortly before she disappeared she told friends that she missed her mother, older brother and maternal grandparents in Oklahoma and wanted to visit them.

A witness reported to have seen her in a convenience store in McGill and she and some other girls were talking about how they were going to get to Las Vegas. Detectives have never identified the girls that were with her in a store. Her family believes she ran away.

Heather was just 13 years old when she vanished on April 4, 2003. When Heather didn't arrive home as scheduled, her stepmother filed a missing persons report with the local Sheriff's Office. Initially it was believed she was a runaway, possibly headed to Oklahoma where her biological Mother and brother lived. According to historical weather reports, it began snowing at 3:53 pm and continued for several days after.

The missing persons/endangered runaway file sat on the detectives desk for two weeks before an investigation began as he was on vacation at the time of her disappearance. Although police did search for her, this crucial time was lost. The detective in charge of the case has since passed away.

The last credible lead came five years after her disappearance where she was seen in a local gas station, by some accounts, accompanied by an adult male. Surveillance video of Heather and her possible abductor no longer existed at this time as the gas station only keeps video for 24 months.

Both father and stepmother were reported to have taken a polygraph performed by the FBI, which they passed.

This is incorrect information. She wasn't in McGill, it was a local gas station in Ely.
