Today would have been the start of jury selection.

Jade's Grandfather Phil talked about the wait for justice. The family had flown in from out of state for the trial, and now has to do it again next year.

She will spend the rest of her miserable life in prison. Too bad they couldn't have cut her up first.

What is she playing at?

It's okay.....let her keep screwing around and playing the system. She'll end up getting the death penalty if the plea agreement is voided and it goes to a jury. She is obviously too stupid to realize that she dodged a bullet when they let her plead to life without parole and took the death penalty off the table.

She thinks she can do better................but more than likely she'll get much much worse.

Well, it's all but over for Brenda. Today the judge said "Oh hell no!"
No withdrawing the guilty plea.

Sentencing May 23. She will die in prison.

A 53-year-old woman who pleaded guilty to killing 10-year-old Jade Morris and slashing a Bellagio blackjack dealer was sentenced Monday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Jade’s grandmother spoke of “a beautiful child any parent would be proud of” and “a straight A student.”

“She didn’t have anything to do with grown-up problems,” Claudette Jones said. The grandmother then told defendant Brenda Stokes, “I hope you go to prison and think about what you’ve done every day.”

(...)

Offered a chance to speak in court, Stokes declined to say anything about the attacks.

(...)

Toward the end of Monday’s hearing, Stokes told District Judge Kathleen Delaney that she wanted to say something to Jade’s family. But the judge told Stokes that her time had passed.

“We will give closure to this matter today,” the judge said. “All we can do today is find justice in the outcome of the sentence and hope that Ms. Stokes will do whatever good she can with whatever the remainder of her life.
