What a very strange situation surrounding this man's disappearance. Although NamUs reports he was planning to visit an indoor shooting range in Vegas when he went missing, which would explain the weaponry.

James Perryman's mother was posting regarding her search for her son on Websleuth's as recently as August of this year on her profile page & previously in 2010 in the Unidentified Forum under the username "rhodesotto" (see the linked thread above). It appears based on her comments that there haven't been many developments in the case since his disappearance, though she remains convinced he did not commit suicide.

Was there ever any mention of him being on medication for depression or something along the lines of that? Seems strange that he is still missing after 12 years while even having a weapon on him (assuming he were to have to defend himself from someone)? I do hope they can bring him home soon though and give him a proper burial or even better he just wanted to start afresh and he's happy. (major wishful thinking there, but anything is possible).

Wow, this is a strange case. Where did James Perryman go?? It reminds me a lot of Steven Koecher's disappearance. Straight laced guy, according to his mom's profile someone posted that he was trying to get a job with the man who posted and Steven was reportedly possibly in Vegas to get a job, and his car is just abandoned and he just disappears. James was in Primm however but I don't think that is very far from LV. Not much on the internet about his disappearance. I couldn't find any media stories at all.

I have a few questions, where was he originally from? Primm? Seems like a strange place I live. There really isn't much in Primm, just a few hotels and the outlet mall.

Charley Project states he has three scars on his forearm from self inflicted knife wounds yet his Mom is certain he wasn't suicidal? If he was cutting himself that indicates trouble.

Having lived in San Diego and Vegas, I've often wondered about all the discarded bodies along that drive. There are hundreds of miles of open desert.

I hope his Mom gets answers some day.

I think he was from California and just staying at a hotel/motel in Primm because they found some of his clothes there after he disappeared. That's what really makes me wonder if it was a suicide because why would he leave Primm and head back into California on the Interstate but leave his clothes in the motel/hotel?? It doesn't make sense to me. I would think he would have checked out or committed suicide closer to Primm. Why drive 25 miles away towards home (if I am correct that he was from California)?

IMO I don't think he drove that car there. Someone else did. Was he alone on his trip to Primm? Why did he go to Primm and Buffalo Bills casino? Was he going to meet someone there? Had he been there in the past or his first visit? So many questions that may be important in finding him.

I agree there is not enough information to speculate what may have happened to him.

The UID was found deceased in 2000 though. James vanished in 2002. They could be twin brothers though, wow!

Hi! New member here. This case caughf my eye because my madien name is Perryman. Looking on a few sites I found this unidentified man found in 2008. They estimate he has been dead at least 5 years and James has a lot in common. If I'm not suppose to post this I'll apologize in advance.

On 11/22/08, a private surveyor located some skeletal remains in a small cave in a desert area close to I-15 and US 93 in rural Clark County. The decedent was reportedly slumped forward with a rifle on his lap.

    Good find!

Another question. Since both Perryman and the unidentified man have DNA in the system are they not automatically compared?

    Hello all..
    .
So I've been checking this site and others on and off for years in hopes someone would find James. I will try and answer some of the questions I've heard others ask. I'm a friend of James and used to skateboard with him. I'm a few years older than him. He grew up in Huntington Beach, Ca and was a good kid that did have some issues. I won't go into all of them here out of respect for his mum if she's still reading. Lets just say his parents divorced and he didn't have any contact with his dad, and didn't get along with his step dad. At least that is what he told me. I believe that's when he was cutting himself. He also had an incredible pain threshold so maybe he was testing himself. I lost contact with James some years before he disappeared. I spoke with him at a wedding years later. He had joined the Army, and was a Ranger. Don't know much about where he served. He was married(I believe) and has a baby daughter, who would be an adult now. Crazy. I don't believe anyone drove the car out to the desert other than James. James wouldn't be a typical target/victim, he was in excellent shape, and well trained. He wouldn't go down without a struggle.

It will be 14 years May 3 that he disappeared. I've been to Las Vegas 100's of times since then. I always think about James passing through.

Mysterion, welcome to Websleuths and thanks for your post! So, what do you think happened to James? Suicide?

First of all, I want to thank everyone who has posted comments regarding my son, James on this website...for keeping his memory alive. People have asked many legitimate questions about James' life and the circumstances of his disappearance. I'd like to clarify a few things. Several years ago, James' case was moved from the LVPD Missing Persons Dept. to Homicide. Detectives is San Bernardino County & Las Vegas have both stated to me that they do not believe James committed suicide but was a victim of foul play. However, we will really never know what actually happened to James on that fateful day. There has been no further updates on his case to report. My DNA is registered with the FBI in case they do find any identifiable remains. For the record, James was not married and did not have a child. When he was in the Army, he was trained to be an Airport Firefighter; did a tour in Haiti. After the Army, he worked as a Firefighter and Air/Sea Rescue in the Marshall Islands. James was in the business to save lives; why would he take his own? He left that job, came to Vegas for a little R&R before plans to head to Guam for a new job there. He wanted to see his best friend in Huntington Beach before going; thus, his drive towards California. He got a late start so decided to spend the night at Buffalo Bills Casino in Primm. The San Bernardino Police from Barstow were wonderful with their search efforts and helping me retrieve James' belongings. However, the Las Vegas Police failed me miserably. They refused to file a Missing Person's Report until the Detective in San Benardino intervened on my behalf. They REFUSED to investigate at the time...thus, no forensics, no interviews, no searches...nothing! However, the Coroner's Office have been very kind to me in keeping me informed and responding to my emails. Buffalo Bill's Casino refused to answer any of my questions regarding the condition of his room, who found the backpack, and claimed videotapes were "not available". There is a huge casino lobby in Vegas to protect their reputations and obviously even controls the local media. I tried to get the story of Jame's disappearance in the news; but, no one would pick up the story. Very frustrating.
I miss James very much and pray that someday I will have some answers. Thank you all for caring.
