Woman possibly kidnapped from Walmart parking lot

FERNLEY, Nev. (KOLO) - A woman who went missing from a Walmart parking lot in Fernley, Nev. may have been kidnapped authorities said.

Naomi Irion was last seen inside her vehicle in the parking lot on Newlands Drive, Saturday, March 12 around 5 a.m. According to Naomi’s family, she works for Panasonic in the Reno/Sparks area and was waiting for a shuttle when she went missing.

Video surveillance shows a person walking from a nearby homeless camp, lurking in vehicles, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said. He is then seen getting into the driver’s seat of Naomi’s vehicle and leaves in an unknown direction with Naomi in the passenger seat.

Authorities said on Tuesday Naomi’s car had been found in Fernley. They have closed off the area and are looking for more evidence related to her disappearance. She has not been located at this time, the sheriff’s office said.

Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputy Eric Kusmerz also reiterated that multiple agencies were searching for Ms Irion “nationwide”.

Since several others offered their thoughts about the suspect, here are mine...and these are only my gut instincts.

Mid to late 30's, military background, divorced or never married, probably lives alone. JMO

I think people are getting too invested in the car/person in the car not coming forward yet.

Walmarts are infamous for people stopping and resting/eating/relaxing whatever. The person could have just been passing through and needed to pull over - it's a direct shot right off of I-80. If they don't have a connection to the town they probably haven't even heard of this situation yet. Sad but true.

I highly doubt they have anything to do with Naomi being missing.

Just for the heck of it, I thought I'd check out the shuttle route to see where it went. I was confused since the shuttle only goes a short distance, nowhere near Panasonic in Sparks. So I went on to Panasonic's website and found that the shuttle is a service they have for employees.
Anyone riding that shuttle only works for Panasonic. It would seem if someone knew that shuttle schedule they were either a present or past employee, or were in some way connected to Panasonic. I don't know how many people would have known Panasonic had their own shuttle that picked up at that location. Panasonic has several locations they pick employees up from.

Could it maybe have been someone that worked where she worked and had someone (unsuspecting) else drop them off earlier at the Walmart parking lot saying they were going to catch the shuttle into to work and maybe claimed their car was broken down? Then when they forced their way into her car made her drive to a certain location where he parked the getaway vehicle. It is strange that they'd be wearing a mask that early in the morning with no one around. It's easy to play it off as a covid mask when they were really trying to disguise their face.

Maybe they were specifically looking for her but weren't sure what car she drove. They looked into the car and noticed it wasn't her and kept walking.

I was just thinking that. There's a point where he's walking towards that car with headlights,then quickly pivots and goes back the other way - towards the camera

IMO - to me it looks like initially when the car pulls in you almost see the suspect step behind or crouch behind a different car for a few seconds. Then they appear to step back out and stand around that car for a bit longer (I'm assuming they are watching Naomi's car). They then walk back towards the camera and go in front of the car, yes. I almost think they do that quick turn around and circle back to actually look to see if the person in the car is paying attention to what is going on. The way they do a quick check and turn and then keep walking makes me think that was the purpose.

Great!!! Hopefully that person was able to recall a significant detail that will be helpful. But with a mask and a hood who knows. The more important thing IMO, we now know the car wasn't connected to the suspect.

Do we know that for certain though? There's hardly any details on the press release. I'm not one for conspiracy theories but....Hopefully they will release more details soon.
