GUILTY NV - O.J. Simpson charged in Las Vegas armed robbery, 2007

Wow! I was listening to NG interview Jean C from In Session and someone else last night, and they were talking about how "charming" OJ was in his first trial. NG was asking if he was smiling at the jury and pulling his Mr. Personality act again, and they agreed that he did seem to be acting very professional and pleasant, not putting the jury off, and I started to get a little bit nervous.

TG this jury didn't fall for his lies. I hope the judge considers his complete disregard for the law and gives him the max. I mean, if you had gotten away with murder once, wouldn't you spend the rest of your life following the speed limit? This guy is constantly pushing the envelope!

I hope it brings the Goldmans and the Browns some small measure of peace to know that OJ will no longer be free to enjoy his bizzarro celebrity.

Good Morning Angelmom!
:blowkiss:

You know, OJ will appeal, he'll cry the race card, etc., no doubt. However, I believe he's done. His first trial, although made to be about race, was really about celebrity. The prosecution should have pulled the celebrity card when they pulled the race card. This time, an intelligent jury convicted him based on the evidence presented, period. I don't think OJ will ever see freedom again. He should get life just for being so stupid.

All I could see on the screen was OJ was found... I held my breath as I clicked on it and saw guilty.I was so relieved . I was at home pregnant with my first child an watched complete coverage of the murder trial and cried for days when he was found not guilty. I felt it was a HUGE miscarriage of justice. I guess there will be no more looking for the "real killer" on the golf course anymore . Now OJ can only look for the real killer in the reflection of his metal prison mirror.

That is how I was at the Scottie Peterson trial, however, they read the verdict on TV. They seem to say, "We the jury finding the defendent....." and then it seems like there is a two hour lapse (in my mind at least) before they say the WORD GUILTY!!!

BTW, Hee hee, did I mention that I AM THRILLED about OJ!!!

Thankfully the evidence in this case was very, very clear and very, very abundant. This jury, unlike the jury in the murder trial, made their decision based on the evidence before them.

I hope this verdict offers both the Brown and the Goldman families some measure of peace.

Karma's a real , ain't she. And, ironic considering the date. Justice may not have been as many of would have liked it so many years ago, but it did *finally* come.

I cannot wait to hear what the sentence will be and OJ's reaction. Heh, heh, heh....it makes me smile just thinking about it! :D

LAS VEGAS - O.J. Simpson, who went from American sports idol to celebrity-in-exile after he was acquitted of murder in 1995, was found guilty Friday of robbing two sports-memorabilia dealers at gunpoint in a Las Vegas hotel room.

The 61-year-old former football star could spend the rest of his life in prison. Sentencing was set for Dec. 5.

A weary and somber Simpson released a heavy sigh as the charges were read by the clerk in Clark County District Court. He was immediately taken into custody.

The Hall of Fame football star was convicted of kidnapping, armed robbery and 10 other charges for gathering up five men a year ago and storming into a room at a hotel-casino, where the group seized several game balls, plaques and photos. Prosecutors said two of the men with him were armed; one of them said Simpson asked him to bring a gun.

The verdict came 13 years to the day after Simpson was cleared of murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman, in Los Angeles in one of the most sensational trials of the 20th century.

"I don't like to use the word payback," defense attorney Yale Galanter said. "I can tell you from the beginning my biggest concern ... was whether or not the jury would be able to separate their very strong feelings about Mr. Simpson and judge him fairly and honestly."

Co-defendant also convicted
Simpson's co-defendant, Clarence "C.J." Stewart, 54, also was found guilty on all charges in the Las Vegas case and taken into custody.

Simpson showed little emotion as officers handcuffed him and walked him out of the courtroom. His sister, Carmelita Durio, sobbed behind him in the arms of Simpson's friend, Tom Scotto, who said "I love you" as Simpson passed by. As spectators left the courtroom, Durio collapsed.

Jurors made no eye contact with the defendants as they entered the courtroom. They declined to answer questions after the verdict was read.

Galanter said his client had expected the outcome, and in a courthouse conversation with an Associated Press reporter on Thursday, Simpson had implied as much.

Simpson said he felt melancholy and that he was "afraid that I won't get to go to my kids' college graduations after I managed to get them through college."

Galanter said it was not a happy day for anybody. "His only hope is the appellate process," he said.

Clark County spokesman Dan Kulin said prosecutors would not comment until the case was "completely resolved."

Judge Jackie Glass made no comment other than to thank the jury for its service and to deny motions for the defendants to be released on bail.

She refused to give the lawyers extended time to file a motion for new trial, which under Nevada law must be filed within seven days. The attorneys said they needed time to submit a voluminous record.

"I've sat through the trial," Glass said. "If you want a motion for new trial, send me something."

Appeal promised
Stewart's attorney, Brent Bryson, promised to appeal.

"If there was ever a case that should have been severed in the history of jurisprudence, it's this case," he said of unsuccessful attempts to separate Stewart's case from Simpson's because of the "spillover" effect.

I agree that OJ will appeal. It's not over yet. Wonder where Christie Prody was - don't think she was at the trial. The news stories mention his sister sobbing, but where his children there?

I posted this on the trials site, but I'm still wondering if his kids were at the trial. They're both adults now, I believe.

I don't think his kids were in the court room Trino, just his sister from what I've read.

Lucky #13!!! As crushed as I was all those years ago, I am beside myself with sheer joy right now after hearing the news I slept through....... :boohoo:

Well, it's taken 13 years for his chickens to come home to roost. Even though he walked on the two murder charges, for someone w this staggering level of narcissism it'll always be just a matter of time before the sense of entitlement, thinking one's above the law, catches up with them. Divine justice? I dunno but if you add up even minimum sentences consecutively guess how many years that would be... you got it... 13 years... yep.

I haven't been following this case because I find OJ disgusting, however, I am so glad he was found guilty. KARMA is a strange thing............... life in prison a possibility? WOW.

What a wonderful way to begin my day!!!!
He just could not stay out of trouble, I was so proud of the judge when his lawyer was arguing for him to be released until sentencing since he was no flight risk... hah! He was sent right off to lock up! Reality finally catching up him.

No more beating up on women anymore. Wonder what Christie will do without her money man.

I haven't been this happy since Hussein was executed. Oh, also when my power came back on after Ike. LOL

Karma at last!
After 13 years of golfing and 13 hours of deliberation by the jury, maybe the sentence will turn out to be 13 years in prison?..:boohoo:

Does anyone know if OJ will lose his NFL Pension due to being found guilty of felonies???

This is a day I have waited for, for a long long time. He is finally getting what he deserves. I totally believe in Karma and his just bit him in the behind. Hope the rest of his life is miserable.

Oh trust me the appeals process will be exhausted and use that as an excuse. But I had better not see Sharpton or Jackson out condeming the verdict as racist or whatever! :furious:

Is he likely to get out on an appeal bond? I think our ex-gov Ryan was able to get out of his sentence for a year or 18 months. Since he's elderly, that's time that's not likely to be served.
