"Its been speculated"...
Yeah, I thought maybe MD gave Steven vague directions
as to where MD's house was (go to house with a green
front door, something like that), but now I think it's just
as likely that Steven had a little difficulty locating the
house, maybe walked up Savannah Springs mistakenly
rather than Evening Lights. I don't know the exact
address of the property door that he knocked on in
Savannah Springs Ave, but there's a house in Savannah
Springs that has an address number that a person could
conceivably think was where they were meant to go if
they momentarily were wondering if they had previously
incorrectly written or mis-heard the address they had
been given - the address number 26x0 Savannah
Springs shares the same digits but in a different order
to the digits of the correct address I understand Steven
intended to go to, 2x60 Evening Lights.
I think MD killed Steven (unsure if that was the plan,
but probably more likely to be a spur of the moment
decision). I figure Steven had decided not to work
for MD any more, probably had come to realise the
expired medication drugs deliveries were of very
questionable legality, Steven probably insisted MD pay
him out for all the deliveries he had done for MD,
maybe Steven threatened to go to the police if MD
didn't pay him out. MD probably shot him and/or
there was a physical fight - the damage to the walls
& (sliding?) two doors, could be interpreted as MD
later ripping out those visible places on the plaster,
the door, where Steven had flung blood/left bloody
handprints as he possibly fought/staggered away from
MD as Steven bled out.

I hate to think something like this happened, but people who don’t have money for rent don’t usually spend lots of gasoline driving all over the place. Perhaps he was naive or misled - or there’s a more innocent reason for all the traveling I haven’t thought of.

I highly doubt he shot him. That would make a loud sound and would leave evidence of bleeding on the walls, floor, furniture, etc. As it was already mentioned on a police report, MD choked one of his ex girlfriends, not to death though. So he has experience in that way already. Its a cleaner way to kill someone. Of course its only a guess
I believe the holes in the walls, doors, were done due to his anger.

Also, I can certainly see how some of the folks involved in that "business" might be suspicious of SK, or at least feel that he was a danger to them: He was such a clean, cut, church-going, "returned-missionary", earnest guy. Someone close to him even described him as "a bit naive" or something along those lines. BB saw an easy mark to help him with his deliveries. Maybe someone else saw him differently.
This is my feeling also. It seems as if this last stop was Steven’s last transaction. He seemed to have offered to drive back to help with church services, which leads me to believe he knew it wouldn’t take him much longer and he would be back on his way home. It’s possible that he was dropping off pain meds or similar and was trying to collect money. He definitely would look suspicious to someone who deals within criminal circles and might be paranoid as is. He could have been robbed of additional product and/or money. It could also have been a set-up to ensure that after deliveries were taken care of, Steven wouldn’t inform police. Avoiding jail time is a common motive. I agree with @Glovey ‘s thinking of what most likely happened.

except now he's missing and people haven't stopped looking or coming up with theories....

This really is a puzzling case! He was a reporter or worked for a news paper at some point, maybe he was working on a story? Going to visit the ex girlfriends parents, what did he talk about while there? Maybe they sent him to talk to someone that lived in the complex? What would lead someone to randomly go to a housing development? Was he responding to an ad placed? Did anyone check his PC for searches? I'd like to know what lead him to that development.

He talked to the ex gf's parents about going to California after their lunch which also doesn't make any sense. The journalism angle is an interesting theory and maybe he had pissed someone off. It could be likely, but I think it's a bit of a stretch since they would have to count on him driving to Las Vegas a couple of times before they got to him, and who knows why he was driving there in the first place.

I know he was heavily involved with his church. Maybe he was recruiting or thought he was recruiting people to join or something? I'm just trying to put my head around the housing complex. He didn't randomly find it, and he didn't knock on every door. It seems CLDS was a huge part of his life, so I also have a rough time thinking he was doing something illegal or sketchy, but I guess anything is possible. I know he could have returned home as his family seemed welcoming and close to him, so why be desperate? Was he having a mental health crisis? Did the ex GF parents think his behavior was off or pick up on anything? Did they say why he mentioned CA? I mean I could tell if someone i knew well was not themselves. What was his vibe? I understand trying to find a job and being behind on rent, but again he had a support system so why be desperate and erratic?

I think those are some very good questions but I don't know if he was recruiting people on that specific day. It's possible he wanted to work in Vegas and was looking for a new place to stay around that area; I believe it has been noted that a real estate agent was there around the same time as him. There were people pissed off at him like his landlord and he didn't seem to be talking to his family much either but if he was looking for somewhere to squat for a few days I can see him potentially having an accident or falling down a ravine or manhole etc.

What is CLDS?

Church of Latter Day Saints. Mormons.
I live in Utah and have never seen or heard anyone add the C. That is weird. Sorry.

Oh gosh. Don't be sorry! It took me a minute too!
I'm in NJ so we've called it both lds and clds. I know that church is very serious and part of the religion is to recruit, similar to jahova witnesses, they also committed a portion of their salary to the church. I don't know if the church is connected, just know it was a big portion of his life.

I doubt he was performing any work for the church on these trips.
If he were, the church leaders probably would have been aware of his movements and not be surprised he was in Las Vegas.
Were they surprised? I'm not sure if they were interviewed and what their speculation was? Again from what I read/saw they didn't give much detail on interviews etc. And families don't like to air out dirty laundry if there was any mental illness etc.

Hi
Totally random here. I've been on a deep dive of Steven’s disappearance for like 4 days since Ive heard about his case. I am new to his case so I could be totally wrong.
But after days of reading his threads (not all of them) and Reddit and everything else I could find I just wanted to share what I think is most possible. So if I get anything wrong someone please correct me.
But what I think is I think Steven answered an ad from craigslist for some work to help the people moving move. This would explain why he parked down the street, the moving trucks where in the driveway. This would also explain why his phone pinged where it did.
Does anyone know where the people moving where moving to?
I guess this still doesn't explain the weird road trips he took before he disappeared. But I honestly think there's more to that whole situation.

I've never heard of putting an ad out to get strangers to come over and help me move. I always just assumed other people would be too busy to offer a helping hand for that kind of thing, but if he got paid then it could be a possibility. I personally think he wasn't in contact with anyone on the day except that phonecall he got from the bishop about driving back to help with the church session..

Yes, I'd say they were because they expected him to be in church the morning he was in Las Vegas.
This phone call was discussed earlier, I believe he was asked to lead a group, but they changed that plan when they found he was in Las Vegas.
This is why I don't think he was on any business related to the church at the time he disappeared.
