FARGO — A 21-year-old woman who lived in Fargo was reported missing to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Bureau of Indian Affairs last month, and her family in North Dakota still has not heard from her in weeks.

Tanya Skar left her Fargo home in late December to travel with her boyfriend William Reno to Las Vegas and possibly later on to Arizona in order to escape North Dakota's frigid winter, said Charlotte Rusch, Tanya's sister.

Tanya called her family multiple times each day and was in "constant contact" with them, Rusch said. She didn't have a cellphone, but she would call her family on Reno's phone or send Facebook messages. Rusch, who lives in Fargo, last spoke to her sister over the phone on Jan. 11.

So is the bf answering his phone? Has anyone heard from him or is he missing too?

Before going to Nevada, Tanya and her boyfriend traveled to Nebraska, Colorado and New Mexico, staying with friends or family. The pair took a bus to Las Vegas.

R. said she knows Tanya was in Las Vegas before she last heard from her on Jan. 11, because Tanya broke her arm while riding a bike down the Las Vegas Strip. Tanya was treated for her injury on Jan. 8 in Las Vegas, and R. said she received her sister’s medical bill. [snip] However, Tanya stopped even checking her Facebook messages. This, on top of the abrupt stoppage of phone calls, gave Tanya’s mother “a bad feeling,” and the family decided it was time to report Tanya missing, R. said.

I'm going by memory here but it seems like there have been several other recent MP cases like this, where a woman and her boyfriend traveled to Las Vegas and the woman ends up missing. Hmmm... not sure what to make of this.

A broken arm allegedly "riding a bike" down Las Vegas Strip - just 3 days before she went missing. That alone throws up red flags.

That's exactly what I thought!

When I read this I was suspicious also. While this scenario is certainly possible, hopefully LE is carefully looking into the circumstances surrounding this incident. Were there any third-party witnesses? No details are provided, but typically the "Las Vegas strip" is quite a busy place, with lots of people and security cameras around.

So is the bf answering his phone? Has anyone heard from him or is he missing too?

Very good question. Also, has he been actively assisting in the search for Tanya? We would expect LE has interviewed him and checked his background regarding her disappearance. Do we know anything about his statement?

I've seen no new LE or MSM information in this case.

The link below says that Tanya and her boyfriend stayed with "friends or family." I wonder if anyone they stayed with noticed indications of possible relationship problems before arriving in LV?

Fargo woman missing

The circumstances here are quite odd. If Tanya received treatment at a medical facility for a broken arm, for any reason, and went missing a few days later, then we would assume LE investigated that accident. Given this accident reportedly took place "while riding a bike down the Las Vegas Strip" then is highly unlikely there were no witnesses or security video of this accident.

It's likely LE has more case information then they've released so far.

I have lots of questions. Where is the boyfriend now? Is he keeping in touch with her family?

I see from her facebook page Tanya has struggled with sobriety in the past. How far along is she in that journey? Only asking because it could be a reason not to contact family, if she wants to hide it.

<BBM>

I did that (for Fargo) and I know I'm not allowed to say too much about it until/if he's listed as a POI, but I think I can say be prepared to be extra scared for her if you go there too. :(

I read her Mom and sister received calls from Tanya yesterday (Feb 5). They are grateful to know she's alive, but remain concerned for her safety.

@Knox, thanks for letting us know about this. So Tanya called her family on Saturday? Can any details of those conversations be shared here?

Is Tanya technically still "missing" since her family has heard from her? Tanya's family is still concerned for her safety so hopefully she arrives back home safely.

No details were revealed, family said they were going to let LE know they had spoke to her. It's my understanding, that LE will only close a case when they speak directly to or have some other means of assuring the person is who they say they are and they are safe. Waiting to see if that happens here.

@Knox Thanks for the info here. So her family apparently had conversations with Tanya this weekend, but no details have been released by the family or LE. For now, her MP status remains unchanged.

From the link above:

"She sometimes uses Belisle or Knox as last names (they are family names)."

Yes, are you confirming what I said in my post- just different wording?

Hope Tanya goes back home to those who really love and care for her.

@Knox, Yes just making sure I was understanding the situation. I'm assuming this information came from FB posts?

Would be helpful if we knew what was discussed, but understandable that the family and LE cannot release everything to the public. Hopefully whatever information was shared will ultimately assist this investigation.
