FBI arrests five people near Verrazano Bridge in possible connection to Chelsea bombing after bomb cache find in New Jersey

Federal agents busted five people in Brooklyn in a possible connection to the Chelsea bombing late Sunday, law enforcement sources said.

The suspects were in a “vehicle of interest” heading east at around 9:30 p.m. on the Belt Parkway from the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge., FBI officials confirmed.

A weapons stash was found inside the SUV, sources revealed.

Meanwhile, authorities discovered three pipe bombs and two smaller devices at a train station in Elizabeth, the law enforcement source said.

So FBI busted 5 people, but will not comment if they are the suspect(s)
I'm still not certain about the train station

    Well? now my question is?

Are the 5 suspect(s) involved in this also, even though they are detained?

Geesh, go away bad people, let the world have peace!

I don't know why anyone would try to leave something in a trash can in the metro NYC area. When I lived on the ground floor I would get woken up either early in the morning or late at night because somebody with a convoy of shopping carts was going through my trash looking for recyclables.

Kudos to these guys for reporting it and not just dipping out!

It's kind of frightening how seemingly random/far apart these locations are. I really hope that's the last of it.

According to Mayor Christian Bollwage two men found the package in a waste basket on North Broad Street and Julian Place around 9:30 p.m.

The men took the package "because they thought it was of some value," walked for a bit, then saw wires and a pipe, dropped the package and notified Elizabeth Police.

The Union County Bomb Squad was called in and used a drone to examine the package, the mayor said.

"The drone indicated it could be suspicious and it could be a live bomb," Bollwage said.

The FBI is currently on the scene and State Police have been called to the scene.

The five taken into custody had come over the Verrazano Bridge from Staten Island. Investigators were trying to determine if the occupants of the SUV were about to drive out of town or take a plane, sources said.

Investigators also identified a person of interest in the Manhattan attack through surveillance footage, but it was unclear if he was among the five arrested.
