A fight over cold french fries led to the shooting of a Brooklyn McDonald’s worker, who is now fighting for his life, a high-ranking police source said Tuesday.

The 23-year-old victim was working at the fast-food joint at 1531 Fulton St. in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 7 p.m. Monday when he started getting hassled by a female customer over her fries, the source said.

The woman was FaceTiming her 20-year-old son during the argument, and the son soon stormed into the restaurant and began fighting with the employee, the source alleged.

“The mom complained that her fries were cold,’’ the police source said. “The mom was on FaceTime with her son, and he heard the dispute between her and the clerk. The son and the clerk got into a dispute inside, and it went outside.”

That’s when the woman’s son allegedly whipped out a gun and blasted the worker in the neck, cops said.

The victim remained in extremely critical condition at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn on Tuesday, sources said.

A single spent 9mm casing was recovered at the scene and the suspected shooter was taken into custody, police sources said. Charges have yet to be filed.

The suspected shooter has been previously arrested several times, including for grand larceny in 2019 and assault and theft of service in 2018, sources said. He also has numerous sealed arrest cases against him, they said.

Absolutely unbelievable! Reprehensible behavior. So far, charges have yet to be filed. What's the DA waiting on, for him to do it again? SMH I used to love NYC. Now there's not enough money in the world to get me there.

Well, he can sleep easy tonight. He doesn't have to worry about McDonald's fries, cold or otherwise, where he's going.

The man accused of shooting a Brooklyn McDonald’s worker in the face during a spat over cold french fries confessed to an earlier murder — a killing he had gotten away with until the fast food fracas, police sources said Wednesday.

While being questioned for shooting fast-food worker Matthew Webb in the face during a quarrel Monday that spilled outside the Bedford-Stuyvesant McDonald’s, Michael Morgan confessed to an Oct. 21, 2020, homicide he was long suspected of committing.

That fatal shooting took place six blocks from the McDonald’s.

Police later Wednesday charged Morgan, 20, with slaying 28-year-old Kevin Holloman, who was gunned down in front of an apartment building on Herkimer St. near Rochester Ave. Holloman suffered “multiple” gunshot wounds, said police.

"Morgan is accused of punching Webb in the face and then shooting him. Fulmore has allegedly defended her son, telling police that “he gotta do what he gotta do,” the Post reports."

Now the shooter has also been arrested for another murder committed a year ago.

So the cost of New York's current catch&release policy is Mr. Webb's life.

AFAIC the shooter's mother is at least an accessory to this crime.

It is really scary that such people carry guns.

Is his gun legal?
He is a criminal after all.

New York has some of the most restricitve gun laws in the US. Without checking, IMHO, the firearm was NOT legally owned.

As a convicted felon, the shooter could not legally own a firearm in most states without restrictions. Some allow hunting and use of antique firearms.

IMHO no state extends concealed carry to convicted felons, this shooter apparently came into the McDonald's with the firearm concealed. Quite difficult (and pricey) to obtain a concealed carry permit in New York City.

This shooter seems to be a person with little or no regard for the rule of law or for other humans.

Sadly Matthew Webb has died.

"A McDonald's worker who was shot in the neck during an argument over a customer's cold fries has died from his injuries, it was confirmed this morning.

Fast food joint worker Matthew Webb, 23, was shot by gunman Michael Morgan, 20, on Monday and he was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

NYPD confirmed Friday morning that after being declared brain dead, Webb has now passed away.

Webb, from Queens, was shot outside a McDonald's in Bedford-Stuyvesant following a heated spat with the suspect's mother who was complaining about cold French fries.

Video surveillance reportedly shows Morgan punching Webb in the face, and when the worker tried to get up, he shoots him in the neck before fleeing the scene, and attempting to dispose of his clothing, prosecutors alleged."

This is such a tragic story. Does anyone know if the mother has been charged as an accessory? She reminds me of the mother of the killer in the Memphis jogger's murder.

The shooter's girlfriend who he passed the weapon off to has but not the mom, Lisa Fulmore. She spoke at length about the incident for both BET and DailyMail

By her accounting, I don't expect she could be considered an accessory as she thought she was just venting to her son through FaceTime and pivotally her story includes her saying she "told him not to come because she didn't want him getting into trouble". We could assume she knew what might happen as a result of her phone call but it would be very difficult to prove in a court of law and she was nowhere near the shooting, which apparently happened some time after the initial confrontation. She also denies knowing her son had a gun.

This is a case that escalated and escalated far above the fries and while "killed over cold fries" makes for a viral headline it was actually about disrespect and pride - <modsnip>

I think she should be charged, but I just looked online and can find no recent information.

IMO mother should be arrested for conspiracy at the least or maybe even attempted murder.
