That is so horrid. I'm glad that they have the suspect but I can't imagine someone ever doing something so horrible.
Sending prayers to the family and loved ones of the victim.
Oh my! Thank goodness they have him in custody!

History of schizophrenia
This is such senseless violence. I hope justice is served
BBM, as someone who grew up taking trains and buses in a busy city to school and work, you will encounter crazy or just horrible people on the mass transit system, if you argue or have to stand near someone a little off hinged, dont stand right in front of the tracks. There usually is 20-30 feet of pathway for passengers to stand.
NYPD officers arrest a woman after a commuter was pushed in front of a subway train as it arrived at a Times Square train platform on Monday.
Strange, my first thought was this sounds like something an angry woman would do.
The perp lied about a previous subway-pushing incident:
"In a bizarre twist, Liverpool-Turner lied to police last month about pushing a different woman in front of a train at the Union Square station, police sources said.
She falsely claimed on Oct. 19 she was responsible for the death of a German college student who was struck by a train, police sources said.
But cops soon learned Liverpool-Turner — who police sources said has a history of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia — made up the story.
The 19-year-old student had been struggling with depression over a recent breakup and had actually committed suicide, police said."
Melanie Liverpool-Turner, 30, pushed Connie Watton, 49, onto the tracks as they stood on the downtown No. 1 train platform
had been arguing with Connie Watton, 49, at the Times Square-42nd Street station on Monday. The two did not know each other, police said.
Liverpool-Turner underwent a psychiatric exam at Bellevue Hospital
suspect's boyfriend, Olief Wilson, said Liverpool-Turner was taking to train to go shopping in Brooklyn.
Two other women may have been involved in the incident, witnesses told the New York Post.
three dozen police and other emergency officials responded
Dozens of people are hit by New York City subway trains each year, although most of the incidents are accidental, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which operates the system.
Ten subway lines converge on the station, as well as the shuttle to Grand Central Station.

Platform screen doors are glass walls between you and the dangerous tracks in the open pit. When a train enters the station, it lines up with the glass doors, which open to let the passengers in and out.

Is anyone else following the weird elements between Witton's employer (ruthless, super rich) and the fact that
the accused has/has a fancy lawyer (with NY shady business and mob connections), rather than a public defender?
twitter thread here (though bear with me, since this vbulletin formatting is the PITS for links and embeds and stuff)
