MEXICO, N.Y. -- The key witness in an investigation into new allegations about the 1994 Heidi Allen kidnapping pleaded with a friend Sunday evening to not tell anyone she ever lived near a cabin that authorities had started searching for Allen's remains.

I live fairly local to this investigation. I have been following it since the day Heidi disappeared. If this new info turns out to be accurate then yes, an innocent man spent almost 20 years in jail. It disgusts me that all of these people knew for all of these years. It also means that one immediate phone call could have saved Heidi's life.

The family of an Oswego County woman who disappeared nearly 20 years ago arrived at a site that may possibly be linked to her case on Wednesday.

Heidi Allen’s sister, Lisa Buske, read a statement indicating that they are still waiting for more information while the authorities search the area...

On Tuesday, a State Police cadaver dog was "alerted twice" near a scene being investigated in connection to the disappearance of Heidi Allen, according to a Federal Public Defender close to the case.

New to this case, but I started to look through NamUS for unidentified in the area, found this case:

Partial skeletonized lower leg found on shoreline of Lake Ontario. DNA matches partially skeletonized lower arm found about one week earlier (case 07-0439) near Ford Drive. The leg was ssigned case number 07-0464 (this case). Items were found about 1/2 mile apart.

Does anyone know how to submit a name to be checked if it is them?

Isn't it crazy that so much of this information was already known to LE and yet it has taken 20 years for this to break? WOW! I am thoroughly disgusted every single day when I get up and read the stories coming out, most of which were told to police long ago but never acted upon.

If this is all proven to be true then I am most disgusted by JW who knew before Heidi was beaten to death that she was in the van right outside of her door and yet instead of calling 911 she carried on with her day, her week, her year, her life - she went on to have a family of her own. She had all of the power to save Heidi's life in that moment and she chose to let her die. Even if she didn't know exactly what those men would do to Heidi, she knew that a young woman was kidnapped and that the men had no intention of taking her out for dinner and a movie - JW had to know that it would not end well for Heidi and she did absolutely nothing. Heidi's blood is on her hands as much as the men's. I don't care if JW decides to cooperate, she should absolutely be charged and serve time for her part in Heidi's death. She should serve one day for every day that Heidi's family has suffered and that Gary and his family have suffered. She should spend 20 years locked up and those other three monsters should spend the rest of their lives behind bars if they are found guilty.

IMO, JW is also partially responsible for the deaths of Steen's estranged wife and her boyfriend. Even if JW could not save Heidi's life, if she had told LE what she knew soon after then Steen would had been locked up for Heidi's death then he would never had had the chance to kill two more people. She is also partially responsible for the cost of the searches and investigation since she knew exactly where Heidi was the entire time. I am not saying that she is solely responsible, clearly the three men are the ones who killed Heidi, but she had a moral obligation to speak out in that fateful moment and every single day since.

There are so many people that let Heidi, Heidi's family, the Thibodeaus, Vicky and her bf, and the entire community down. Just disgusting.

Does anyone know what came of the brother Richard Thibodeau who got away with aiding to abduct and murder this poor girl? He just went on to live a normal life amongst society, women and children? Am I reading that correctly?

Yeah, he went on living a normal life.... because he's innocent. I made this account so I could specifically address your concerns. The evidence against Richard and Gary Thibodeau is circumstantial at best. Shortly after Heidi's kidnapping, Richard came forward and voluntarily told police that he had purchased cigarettes from Heidi the morning she was kidnapped. Why would someone who was guilty of kidnapping volunteer that information? Turns out, he was the last person to purchase anything from Heidi. At some point between when he was at that store and when a concerned customer flagged down a patrol car, Heidi Allen was kidnapped. A witness said they saw two men forcing a woman into a light blue van in the parking lot of the D&W where Heidi worked. Richard Thibodeau owned a white and black van, which the witness later identified as the van she saw. Other witnesses came forward saying they saw a van driving erratically down the road and there appeared to be a struggle inside the van. One witness claimed forward and said that she saw the van at Gary's house all day on the day of the kidnapping, but later said she wasn't sure of the day and that it actually may have been a dream. She expressed her concern to law enforcement, but they used her testimony anyways. Richard Thibodeau's neighbor said that the van was at his house all day that day except for about twenty minutes (just enough time to drive to the gas station and buy a pack of cigarettes and drive back). Gary Thibodeau said that on that morning he was with his wife (well, she's his wife now) in bed all morning. A neighbor claimed that she heard screaming coming from Gary's house that day. A search of the van and Gary's house revealed no evidence of Heidi, not even a hair (and if there had been a struggle, you'd bet there would be a hair). One of Gary's neighbors also complained of a foul odor coming from a front yard furnace that he owned. Searches of the furnace revealed no evidence of human remains or any evidence of Heidi. (On a side note, did you know that to burn a body completely is almost impossible? Even in cremations they still have bone pieces left over.) The best "evidence" that they had against Gary, note that I say Gary not Richard, was the testimony of two jailhouse snitches who claimed that Gary had admitted his role in the kidnapping and murder of Heidi Allen. Now. Flash forward to 2013. A witness came forward telling law enforcement that James Steen had told her about his involvement in the kidnapping of Heidi Allen. Law enforcement deemed her not credible at the time. However, just last week, they started investigating the claims further. I am going to attach the links to these stories down below on here, even though I'm sure others have already posted some of these. Basically, more witnesses have come forward since then and more evidence has been found that supports their claims. No arrests have been made yet of any of those involved including James Steen, Roger Breckenridge, Michael Bohrer, or Jennifer Wescott. James Steen is currently serving a life sentence for killing his wife, Vicky West, and her boyfriend. You'll find all of these names and more in the articles. Please read them before you make a judgment those brothers. They do not deserve it, as they've been through enough.

So glad that you joined IBelieve - I am from Liverpool originally but lived in the Creek for a while and I am further up North now. I had always believed that GT and RT were guilty, but that was because I did not have all of the facts and the only articles that I had read in the last 20 years had been very biased against the brothers and very matter-of-fact regarding their guilt. I am assuming that Heidi's family was satisfied with them being charged for this crime since I don't remember ever reading that the Allen family was unconvinced. It will be very interesting to see who gets thrown under the bus and who gets a free pass when this is all said and done.

Authorities say they've ended their search of an abandoned property in central New York as part of their investigation into the disappearance of a convenience store clerk 20 years ago.

Oswego County District Attorney Greg Oaks tells local media that no human remains were found at a cabin in the town of Mexico where sheriff's investigators spent five days searching for kidnapping victim Heidi Allen.

Bumping this up again. The reports from JW and TP said that Heidi was dismembered, these remains found in 2007 were dismembered and found very close to where Heidi is missing from.
How do we report to have this checked?
