SALINA, N.Y. -- Onondaga County sheriff's deputies are asking the public's help in finding a 25-year-old Salina man who went missing this weekend.

Jacob Giarrusso's family last saw him Saturday evening at his home in the town of Salina, sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Jon Seeber said in a news release. Deputies did not say why they are concerned about his whereabouts.

Giarrusso is described as a 5 foot, 5 inch tall man who weighs 140 pounds, and has brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last known to be wearing a blue winter jacket, blue jeans with a green winter knit hat.

Giarrusso also may have been driving a gray 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora, with New York license plate HRL 3035, Seeber said in the release.

Deputies ask anyone with information about Giarrusso's whereabouts or the car he may have been driving to call them at (315) 435-3081 or send a tip via text message to tip411.

Lakeland man indicted for murder, hiding corpse in victim's trunk
A Lakeland man who was indicted for murder Friday hid the corpse in the trunk of the victim's car, which he left at a Salina apartment complex, authorities said.
Jacob Stanton, 24, also faces charges of evidence tampering and concealing a human corpse, both felonies, in the Nov. 21, 2017 stabbing and beating death.

No motive for the murder has been revealed, though the two were "acquaintances," deputies said.
Stanton faces up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted of murder. It's unclear if the tampering and corpse charges would be added to his sentence if he were convicted.

The trial for a man accused of beating and stabbing an acquaintance to death in 2017 has been delayed for a second time.

Stanton’s case was scheduled for trial next week in Judge Matthew Doran’s court.

Moran requested Tuesday morning that the Doran delay the trial to give the lab more time to analyze DNA evidence on the handle of the knife.

Defense lawyer Ed Klein didn’t oppose the motion to delay the trial and said it would be in his client’s interest to have the results of the DNA testing.

The trial will now begin on Nov. 4, Doran said.
