Norwich murder trial postponed to November
Judge Frank B. Revoir Jr. made the decision for postponement so that defense counsel could address some issues before the trial, according to officials who said the rescheduling for November was made after a conference with prosecuting and defense attorneys.

With the delay in Ernest Franklin's case, the trial for Heather Franklin won't be scheduled until next year.
 
The trial has begun for Ernest Franklin in Chenango County Court on Wednesday.

The Chenango County man and his wife Heather are accused of killing their 16-year-old adopted son with special needs, Jeffrey, and setting their Mount Upton home on fire in March 2017.

Heather Franklin is also charged in her son’s death. She is expected to face a separate trial.

Glad to hear this outcome - must have been very strong evidence for Jury to come to a verdict so quickly. Poor Jeffery, wish life had been kinder to you.
 
Heather Franklin, accused of working with her husband to kill their 16-year-old son in February 2017 will go to trial this week. According to the Chenango Court Court, the jury has been dismissed and this will now be a bench trial.

Three weeks ago, Ernest was found guilty of murder, arson and tampering with physical evidence. He faces 25 years to life in prison when he is sentenced on May 3.

Heather Franklin trial begins Wednesday
 
Heather Franklin will no longer stand trial in connection to her son’s death after accepting a plea deal on Tuesday.

She pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter, arson and tampering with physical evidence.

Heather is expected to be sentenced to a minimum of seven years in state prison when she is sentenced in June.

Ernest was found guilty of murder, arson and tampering with physical evidence last month. He faces 25 years to life in prison when he is sentenced on May 3.
