RAY BROOK, N.Y. — An Essex County grand jury will consider the case of a 62-year-old former Adirondack resident who allegedly confessed to killing his wife 30 years ago. Thomas Collard, who now lives in Alabama, has been charged with second-degree murder for the death of June Collard in 1980. State police say Collard confessed to investigators last week. Essex County District Attorney Kristy Sprague says Collard told police he punched his wife and threw her out a window. He said he dumped her body in a septic hole, then later burned the body. Collard's lawyer said his client's statement shows a non-intentional homicide occurred, which would mean charges of manslaughter or criminally-negligent homicide. The statute of limitations would have expired in that case.

So if you accidentally kill someone by punching them and tossing them out the window, then throw them in a septic hole and burn them, that's okay in the eyes of the law?

Police: Body found likely that of June Collard, disappeared in 1980

MINERVA -- State Police say they believe a body they've uncovered at an area site last week is believed to be that of June Collard, who disappeared mysteriously 30 years ago.

In a press conference in the North Country, State Police said DNA testing needed to be done to confirm Collard's identity, but preliminary archaeological findings indicate the body is her.

So all this time she was buried right by their home? Right outside of the kitchen window? If LE suspected he killed her wouldn't cadaver dogs have found the body at some point over the years. Surely the property was searched??? Is it just me or does this seem strange.
