I watched the 48 hrs. show on this and although I am not familiar with the case I feel Mr.Neulander was wrongly convicted and his wifes death was an accident.I feel the DA was reaching to make the evidence fit the crimescene.

I feel terrible for the children, especially Jenna. Her anguished 911 call was one of the saddest things I have ever heard. She sounded like a young child calling for her mommy. Heartbreaking. I do believe this was the correct verdict though I have questions. I'm not understanding exactly when the attack happened. Jenna lived with them, was she home? If he was beating her so savagely wouldn't there be screaming, thumping and noise? Why didn't she hear? I heard the house was a mansion so maybe she was too far away to hear it. The part that bothered me most was the fact that this man was such a great doctor, yet his daughter had to tell him, "Dad, put her down! Her neck might be broken!" Sure, he may have been grief stricken and not thinking clearly but if your daughter is screaming and crying for you to stop, wouldn't you? Also as a physician, it seems he would have been able to recognize right away that she was too far gone to save. The logical explanation for this is what the prosecution said. He attacked her in the bedroom, she fought for her life, they ended up in the bathroom where he smashed her head into the bench. To cover it up he invented the slip and fall story, and he moved her because he knew she was dead, it didn't matter at that point. He needed to bring her back to the bedroom to attempt to explain the trail of blood.

I've known the convicted for 30 years. I've see his temper. I've witnessed his rationalization of absurd behaviors and actions. He has always felt , due to his huge success as a doctor and enormous wealth that he was above everyone, and could do whatever he wanted. Leslie was divorcing him; her children were out of college and on their way to charmed lives due to her influence. The public persona of the doctor was created and enhanced by Leslie. That's why the general
public can't imagine how such a " nice guy" could have possibly done such an evil act to the very mother of his children and then duped on each of those very children as a cover up. No human could go lower. Many friendships post conviction have been destroyed by those of differing opinions. Friends for decades have been ostracized and thrown to the curb for believing the facts of this case versus the defenses baseless declarations.

It is my hope that this individual convict passes away quietly in prison and has the ultimate trial and sentencing by God.

The living survivors of this mess have no mercy, hopefully for him his God will.

Split appellate court overturns Dr. Robert Neulander conviction in wife's 2012 death

"...The appellate court, split 3-2, ordered a new trial. It was not immediately clear if the appeal will go to the state's highest court....

As it stands now, Neulander will be returned to Syracuse for a retrial....

...the Rochester appellate court today ordered a new trial. The decision was released shortly after 3 p.m.

The appellate court ruled the trial judge Thomas J. Miller incorrectly affirmed the guilty verdict despite admitted juror misconduct.

The juror admitted receiving biased texts from family and friends during the trial. Miller had ruled that the juror's conduct was improper, but her heart was in the right place and she was not biased.

The appellate court disagreed. The majority noted that the juror would have never been picked for the panel had the misconduct been discovered during jury selection...."

DA Fitzpatrick: 'Stunned' by Neulander's new trial; defends juror and vows appeal

"Syracuse, NY -- Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick said this morning he was "stunned" by an appellate court's decision to grant Robert Neulander a new trial.

But the DA vowed to ask the state's highest court to affirm Neulander's 2015 murder verdict in the 2012 death of his wife, Leslie, inside their DeWitt mansion. And if that fails, Fitzpatrick confirmed that he would do the mega-trial all over again.

The public cost to retry the case? $100,000, the DA estimated...."

Bail hearing to be held for Robert Neulander on Monday

    July 2nd 2018

"SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A bail hearing will be held Monday, July 9, for Robert Neulander, the former doctor accused of killing his wife in 2012.
The hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. in Judge Thomas Miller's court in Onondaga County, according to District Attorney William Fitzpatrick...."

Why Neulander's overturned verdict does not mean he's innocent; bail hearing set

Updated Jul 3; Posted Jul 3

"...There's a very good chance that Neulander, who remained free on $100,000 bail before trial -- and did everything asked of him -- will get a bail that he can afford to make. The amount will be up to Miller.

But despite an appellate court's ruling that Neulander should get a new trial, the judges far from exonerated him of his wife's 2012 death.

In fact, the judges unanimously upheld the jury's verdict as being supported by the evidence.

    So what does that mean?..."

Robert Neulander moved to Onondaga County Justice Center ahead of bail hearing (with clip)

    Jul 06, 2018

"...Neulander, who has been at the Elmira Correctional Facility since his 2015 conviction, is now lodged at the Onondaga County Justice Center.

He will be having a bail hearing on Monday....

Defense Attorney Ed Menkin - who represented Neulander during the trial - noted that it's very rare for jury misconduct to overturn a conviction, but that it has become more common with the advent of social media.

The District Attorney's office is considering appealing the decision to the state's highest court...."

He's due back in court Oct. 9 for an update into whether the Court of Appeals will hear the case. If not, the case will then be scheduled for a new trial. If so, it could be many months -- or years -- before the high court makes a ruling."
