POLICE: Human remains found in Great River

Suffolk County police detectives are conducting an investigation after finding human remains in Great River Tuesday morning.

Third Precinct police officers responded to West Brook Pond in Great River after a 911 caller reported they found skeletal remains found at approximately 11:25 a.m.

Police reports said the remains were transported to the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner to be examined. The remains have yet to be identified.

Additional information was not immediately available.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

I was searching for more news earlier and I don't think there is any further info yet, I assume we're waiting on the coroner's report. If the person is quickly identified, we may not see an update at all, especially if foul play is not suspected.

Great River is right in the middle of Manorville and Gilgo Beach..
