Human bones were found in the backyard of a Long Island home on Saturday afternoon, police say.
The skeletal remains were discovered at a home on Frank Street in Brentwood, according to Suffolk County Police.
"I've never seen body parts like that, but I saw them," one neighbor, who didn't want to be named, said.
"You could see there were leg bones and a skull, and some other pieces of bone. There was a lot of bones," she said.
Nobody was at the house Sunday, but neighbors say the family has been living there for about a decade.
A Suffolk County Police spokesperson said that after a preliminary investigation, "detectives believe the remains have been there for a number of years, possibly as many as ten."
