State police search for woman missing from Lake Placid
Taylor McCabe was last seen last night at Summit Hotel

    March 6, 2016
    By ANTONIO OLIVERO -

LAKE PLACID - State police are searching for a missing woman, Taylor McCabe, a former salutatorian of Keene Central School who turns 24 Monday.

Her father John McCabe announced the news, and state police Capt. John Tibbitts confirmed it Sunday evening.

Taylor McCabe was last seen at 7:28 p.m. Saturday at the Lake Placid Summit Hotel at 2375 Saranac Ave., where she walked in by herself, had a glass of water and stayed for two minutes, according to John McCabe, a resident of Joplin, Missouri. He said state police informed him of this after reviewing the hotel's video.

John McCabe said his ex-wife and Taylor's mother Erin McDonough, a Lake Placid resident, said Taylor was wearing a long black or dark sweater and flashlight when she was last seen at McDonough's apartment near the Price Chopper supermarket on Saranac Avenue Saturday night.

John McCabe said Taylor has been staying at her mother's one-bedroom apartment on Saranac Avenue for the past week.

He also said Taylor takes the anti-depressant Prozac for anxiety and that a friend of Taylor's, Louisa Sardella of Keene Valley, informed him Taylor had not been taking her medication for about a week before taking it again Friday.

John McCabe added that earlier this week, Taylor started having hallucinatory symptoms, and he received multiple, "bizarre" Apple FaceTime video messages lasting between two and three minutes from her in which she appeared disoriented and asked confounding questions.

Tibbitts said the state police's continuing investigation is in conjunction with the Lake Placid Police Department and the Essex County Sheriff's Office. Tibbitts said state police are trying to track down Taylor's last movements and whom she may have been with in the Main Street area in Lake Placid Saturday night, hoping someone had interaction with her after 7 p.m. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, Tibbitts said he couldn't provide any further information.

McDonough called John McCabe around 9:30 this morning to inform him their daughter was having episodes at her apartment Saturday afternoon, John McCabe said. He said McDonough told her Taylor had said she wanted to go for walks before Taylor departed the house individually sometime Saturday evening.

John McCabe described Taylor as smart and all together when on her medication, but he sensed something was wrong when she was back at home this week. He said he had no theory of where Taylor might be. He said Taylor's current residence is a former family residence in Keene Valley.

Anyone with further information is asked to call state police at 518-897-2000.

It sounds like Taylor was on Prozac, came off it and has recently gone back on it again. That being so, I am not surprised to hear she was behaving oddly and having hallucinations - it can have some horrible (& initially scary) side-effects http://www.drugwatch.com/prozac/

    Be safe Taylor! :rose:

Happy birthday to Taylor. I hope that she is able to get the support, love and (based on what has been reported) the professional help she needs.
