and does he actually have a fake passport or just a fake NJ license (easier)?

  • Brian Thompson, the CEO of insurance giant UnitedHealthcare, was gunned down Wednesday outside a luxury Midtown hotel in a “brazen, targeted attack,” police said.
  • The methodical killer used a firearm with a silencer outside the Hilton hotel along Sixth Avenue.
  • The gunman fired at Thompson multiple times, striking his back and right calf before fleeing on foot.
  • The NYPD released a new photo of the hooded suspect standing in front of the counter at the Starbucks at West 56th Street and 6th Avenue, just minutes from the Hilton hotel where he gunned down Thompson, 50.
  • Thompson was named CEO of UnitedHealth in April 2021. He joined the company in 2004. He was one of several senior executives at the company under investigation by the Department of Justice.
  • Thompson’s wife, Paulette, said her husband had been getting threats before he was killed.
  • The NYPD is investigating a possible message — which appears to include the words “deny,” “depose” and “defend” — engraved on live rounds and shell casings left behind by the masked assassin.
 
Killer believes that someone very close to him (maybe himself) was wronged by UHC, and perhaps BT in particular. It could be a denied claim, cancelled insurance, wrongful termination (or, something else employment related). Those words he chose for the casings he left at the scene scream lawsuit to me. Why bother with any type of silencer in this plan? He had to know there would be other people on the street in the morning in NYC. Maybe it was for less immediate attention, but I think he may have planned to catch BT one-on-one indoors. This may have been plan B. I think he was so determined to do this that he didn't care if he was killed in the act. He took a big chance, and I agree with everyone that posted about this being very planned out.

Were it me, yes -- easier to disappear out of NY or wait it out there in a variety of ways imo, and having a time and place I'm supposed to appear again is risky unless the timeline is so tight that I'm betting I won't be traced that fast, imo. And if I don't show up for the return flight, that no-show is something that can be traced to me.

CNN’s latest update only mentions two words (Delay and Depose), missing Deny.

Probably just confusion in reporting among all the info.

Whats irking me is that the ‘message’ whether two or three words still feels so cryptic to me. Why not copy the book title exactly? Why use a word like “Depose” that is so open to interpretation when you have such a small chance to communicate? “Destroy” would’ve had a similar effect (I’m sure there’s other De- words too!)

Regarding the Hostel ID questions - I've traveled through dozens of hostels worldwide. If you're not from the country where you're checking in, you need to show your passport(sometimes they keep it until you check out). But, if you reside in that country you can just show your local ID. For instance, an Italian from Milan can show local ID at a hostel in Rome. In this case I read that the killer showed a (fake) New Jersey DL and paid cash. A New York hostel would not require an American to show a passport. So the woman that checked him in, and reportedly flirted asking him to remove the mask, thought the NJ DL was valid identification. She believed he was an American from NJ.
 
My job had me at that Hilton for 4 weeks a year every year for 25 years...as a New Yorker I know that area extremely well. Here is why there HAS to be an accomplice and also an odd head scratcher re the 57th st F stop. According to the timeline the perp was seen at 5am carrying an e-bike battery from the Douglas houses on 103st/west side. He is next seen exiting the F stop at 57st. He MUST have rendezvoused with the accomplice to handoff the battery (why?). BUT, him exiting the F street 57st stop makes NO SENSE. Was the battery pick up a last minute glitch? Did the accomplice find out last minute that the bike battery was dead? In order for him to exit the F train stop (which is a weird small stop btw) he would have had to first take a B train SOUTH from 103 st to 47-50 Rockefeller center (HUGE stop that sprawls underground for 3 blocks) and handed off the battery there. But why not just exit that station and go to the Hilton? Why then go the one stop north to the 57 st station? Maybe the handoff was on the platform? It's really perplexing. I assume LE is perplexed by this too. The timeline does not allow non-subway transit down from 103st. He had to hand off the battery. I can't imagine them handing off at Rock Center stop bc of the sheer number of cameras, but that had to happen that way to get him to the weird F/57st station, where he exited without the battery. There is no other way, the that timeline: 5am at 103st walk to CPW wait for train, hand off (I think it HAD to be at the Rock center stop) then wait for another train and get off at 57st...that takes a while especially bc the trip from 103 is a local train, a lot of stops. Would they be that dumb to do the handoff at Rock center stop? Why didn't he just emerge from that station and walk to the Hilton, it's just about equidistant from the F train stop. Maybe they exchanged at on the platform because going to the concourse has too many cameras. I think that's it.

Depose could be a reference to any of the criminal or legal cases the victim and his employer are involved in.

BT was charged with insider trading, a serious criminal offense. The company was being investigated for anti-trust activity.

Some may have feared BT might reveal incriminating information about others as he was deposed for insider trading. Whether deposition or plea bargaining, etc., Others may have been worried about what he might say.

It comes down to who might have had the most to gain by getting rid of BT.

No, not IMO. There HAD to be someone minding the getaway bike. It 100% would have been stolen while the perp stalked his target. With your theory, he would have had to have shot him, unlocked the bike, retrieved the battery from his backpack, attached it, and driven off. NO WAY that was in the plan. That bike had to be waiting and ready to go after the murder.
