There's another side to the delay that may not be helpful to the defense. This is honestly not meant to be snarky but I think a delay will not help Casey in terms of her image with the jury. She has been gaining weight in jail which seems to be pretty common. IMHO she will look substantially (and yes I do mean the double entendre) different when the trial rolls around. Male jurors won't find her as attractive and that will work against the defense. I think an attractive defendant will get more sympathy from a jury in general. I don't think that's right, I just think it is a fact. Look at all the attention she has gotten already & all the male "fans" who send her money. If she looks different when the trial starts the media will no doubt comment on that fact - probably alot. It will become a factor. If I was one of her lawyers I'd really be on her case about making sure she maintains herself while in jail.

I agree NL-and I think attractive lawyers help also. So, which lawyer do you suggest talk to KC about keeping up her appearances?

JB fussing at the male lawyer for the state...anyone catch what was said?
TIA

I couldn't hear exactly what they said, but after reading the news I assumed they were talking about the state wanting to get a picture of KC's tattoo. The defense does not object but wants to be there.

Right now I want kathie B and the gang to show defense by there reporting that she is as common as all the current mothers of fillicide sitting in jail. Kathie would be a great reporter to put together an expose on these types of crimes, showing Orlando that these women are ruthless scums that need to be eradicated.

I figured this would happen. Baez claimed that everyone would understand...now I at least do... They need more time to think more like Casey....LIE, and CHEAT to get her off...
If she was so innocent...they would be ready now..

I agree with you on all points except your last statement. Although I agree that Caylee was taken from this earth much too soon, I take comfort in knowing that she is having a beautiful life with the Lord Jesus Christ. Thinking of the all the great wonders she is experiencing.. things that our earthly minds cannot comprehend... That makes my heart feel good.

She was not in good hands while on earth, but now she is in the Best Hands she could ever be in.

I am so in agreement with you Reagan. What I meant was Casey took Caylee's chance at a beautiful life here on earth.

Typical. Predictable. Delay, delay, delay.....it ALWAYS bodes well for a defense, don't you know, (a tried and true strategy!!) as it puts the case further and further out from the original crime. The only thing that can undo their strategy efforts is if the Anthony's don't stay quiet and keep the case alive and on front page headline news. Now THAT would be bad for their daughter's case.

I think KC is the one behind the trial being delayed.

She has a comfortable jail lifestyle right now. That will all change when she's convicted and sent to prison. Even if she is segregated from the general population, she will not have the "kid gloves" treatment she has now.

I think she must be resigned to going to prison and she's trying to delay it as long as humanly possible. Otherwise, if she was innocent, she would be pressuring her defense to get on with the trial so she could get out of jail.

BBM.

ITA! I think Ms. KC is going to do whatever she can to prolong this and drag it out. I keep hearing GA's voice saying that KC will take something as far as she can. I also hear KC's voice when she was arrested saying she would take this as far as she had to. It would not surprise me at all if she allowed this debacle to go on and on with delay after delay until there could be no more. Then, I could see her trying to work out some deal so that she didn't actually have to go to trial. It wouldn't matter to her how much it had cost the state of FL or any of the people involved, as long as she isn't made to be uncomfortable or forced to do something she doesn't want to. If this happens, I pray that the SA says "No Way, Jose!" and makes her sit in a courtroom and listen to each and every person testify, and hear all of the gruesome details of what she did to her little girl. JMO, of course! ;)

Because this is a death penalty case there is going to be a great deal of latitude given to the defense. Because a life is at stake they will err on the side of caution every single time, and this is but the first of the delays that we are likely to see on this one. We will be lucky to see this go to trial at all in 2010.

ACCKKK!!!! Don't jinx me!!!! I recently finished a whole week of jury duty at the orange county courthouse. The day we reported a lot of were saying "at least we know we aren't here for the KC case!" Now I've got a 12 month grace period where they CANNOT ask me to serve again. I don't think I'd get picked for this jury anyway, due to my interest in the case, but I don't want to have to report for it anyway.

As for why the trial was delayed, I know this just happens. A lot of trials face delays, this one isn't any different. The only sad part is that little Caylee deserves justice, and we are all tired of waiting for that.

bbm:

In a sense Caylee is getting her due justice with KC sitting in jail, waiting and waiting and waiting.

Consider this alternative: The A clan could and would have gotten away with Caylee's murder IF the car was never found.

ITA. I think she also realizes that she may indeed receive the death penalty, and would like to delay in order to extend her life.

IMO, a delay means nothing more than the perp gets additional guaranteed time to sit behind bars and think about what she has done.

It is actually a very strategic move for the defense. If they can delay the trial for a long period of time they can erase the media's influence on jurors. Potential jurors will not ever have heard of the case or forget the details of ther case that were played onut in the media, like the A's crazy behavior, Casey's behavior while out on bail etc. They will not remember the little details that will NOT make it to trial and the defense has a better chance.

I hear AL is going to file some motions as well which will further delay the case.

I just came from "Today's News" thread. Can I even put into words how frustrated I feel that now it is guesstimated that this trial won't begin until summer 2010?! WTH?! I am all for letting the defense have time to get their ducks in a row but geesh!, I am starting to think maybe we (Judge S) should stop worrying so much about protecting this from any appeals in the future and start worrying about getting this show on the road to begin with. How about that? How bout we just make sure this gets to trial before worrying about protecting this from any and all possibilities that could come up in the future for an appeal???

Don't get me wrong, I like and respect Judge S. very much. I think he is a moral, good man, excellent judge from what I've seen so far. I am just so frustrated. Caylee deserves for her murderer to go to trial within a reasonable amount of time. IMO we are going off into the "unreasonable" when a trial date is tentatively set for summer 2010!! MOO MOO and MOO

I have only been served once for this trial and have heard nothing further as far as court dates go. I really dont even pay attention to it anymore. I know I will come home one day to a envelope in the door with subpeona in it. It is a bit ridiculous how this is being drawn out though.

The waiting would annoy me. I would think you and all the other witnesses would rather get it done and over with. I'm sure it will not be easy to testify and you just want to get it past you. Thanks for sharing your inside view!

Good to see you back! I hope you know our thoughts and prayers are with you and the other "friends" of KC that were drawn into this nightmare!! Hang in there!

All over the internet people have discussed the possibilties that CA & GA may have obstruct jutice. With the news of January being the month for this case to begin it has me asking a few questions that are confusing to me. How do the A's keep freedom going if there is a possibility that they may have commited a crime within a crime. I'm thinking of about 4-5. Would LE turn a blind eye just so the trial will go smoothly. How is this goig to effect the testimony of the witnesses? I can't think that LE would'nt want to make arrest before this case gets to trial. Especially if the crime continues.
