I wonder why the family/friends suspect human trafficking? Has there been an issue in that immediate area? Or are they hoping for ANY cause besides her possibly taking off on her own, back to drugs etc?

Anyone with information regarding Jayme's whereabouts is asked to call the Columbus Division of Police at 614-645-4545.

Elizabeth Wiles, who lives near Jayme's home, says she thinks her friend has become a victim of human trafficking.

Jayme's relatives say she recently completed drug rehabilitation and was getting back on track, when she went missing.

I wondered the same thing. HT is way out of left field. I'm not aware of any issues in the area recently. Columbus is only an hour from me. She could have came down here to Cincinnati to get drugs using sex as payment maybe... maybe that's what they mean? Maybe she's done it before? I don't know, that's pure speculation on my part.

If my friend went missing while walking down the street, I don't think my first thought would be trafficking. But maybe there's a reason for it. As bad as it sounds, falling off the wagon would be a better alternative for her. I hope she comes back on her own.

I mean Paige Johnson allegedly disappeared almost the same way. If you believe Jacob Bumpass.

Good morning sweetlings-----was looking for updates and this new case jumped out at me------I agree with the wise Sleuthies--Human Trafficking? It seems (IMO) an odd thing to say, odd conclusion to arrive at. Not accusing Jayme but just out of rehab yes maybe old habits kicked in.
With whom had she been in touch since coming home? Did she owe anyone money perhaps?

Tssiemer--love that quote!!! And am going to look up Paige Johnson.

Are we allowed to ask what circumstances led to Jayme going to rehab? Court ordered, took initiatve herself, intervention etc? I ask b/c that could lead us to a new group of people she may have contact with.---Users, sponsors----people she may reach to.

Does she have a cell phone, cash, credit cards, items of value to sell or trade?

I don't think she would need to leave Columbus to get drugs.....It's not exactly utopia.

South Columbus is not a great area. If she went missing in The Bottoms, as one part is known, I would not be surprised to find it was related to human trafficking. It's a very depressed area, very rough. Parts of Columbus are not safe at all - although it was a different area, we had a thirteen year old girl raped while waiting for the school bus just a few weeks ago.

Given her history, I'd say it's more likely that she may have gotten back in to drugs, but with the area she was in, it's also possible she was taken and trafficked.

I doubt very much this is trafficking.

If she has substance abuse issues, maybe this is a way of paying a debt?? I have to assume they have to have some information to lead them to believe that she may be a victim of human trafficking.

We had a case on here in the past year (maybe 6 or 7 months ago) where a girl was being held by human traffickers because of a drug debt. I seem to remember that it was also in Ohio. The family and LE knew who had her and why. They knew that they had moved her to another city and were searching for her. Anybody else remember that case?

Columbus, Ohio is where tips lead police to search for missing Ali Lowitzer at a brothel, so there is an issue with like drugs and prostitution there.

I think it might have been Jeremy Mack's case? That was up near Cleveland, though.

It's interesting, only one local news station is covering this. Hard to find specific info about the case. According to a facebook page devoted to finding missing persons, Jayme went missing from around 10am near Parsons Avenue and Stewart Avenue. That's not that bad of an area of town - fairly close to where I work. It's the border between German Village (a gentrified part of downtown) and a lower-income, somewhat rougher part of Columbus. I was even at that intersection last week during the day. It was an area I was alert in, but did not feel in danger.

If she was taken in to human trafficking, I doubt she was snatched of the street at random from this intersection. It's too busy, and it's not that bad - you get a mix of professionals, people living in German Village, and some of the lower income residents frequenting the shops on Parsons.

    Here's another picture of Jayme:

I'm not sure if it turned out to be related to Jeremy Mack. It was a thread about a missing girl who was being held by human traffickers because she owed money to a drug dealer. (I think she had recently come out of rehab.) I tried searching and couldn't find it.
