Found Deceased OH - Payton Young, 17, Columbus, 21 Jan 2018

Payton Young, 17, was last seen on January 21, 2018. Her car was recovered at Hayden Run Falls Park. The search is ongoing.

Young is described as a white female standing 5’3″ and weighing around 115 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a gray sweater.

Police say she is believed to be suicidal. As of 1pm Monday, the CPD dive team is assisting in the Scioto River.

WBNS-TV in Columbus is reporting that the parents of the missing girl are holding out hope that their daughter is still alive.

Recent postings on social media have claimed that Payton had been seen with another man at a Steak and Shake restaurant on Fishinger Road.

Police are interviewing an employee who posted on Facebook that Payton now has short blonde hair.

Police plan to resume a search of the Scioto River on Wednesday.

Payton Young, a 17-year-old Bishop Watterson student, was last seen on Sunday, Jan. 21. Her vehicle was recovered that night at Hayden Run Falls Park.

Police say they found a suicide note on her cellphone along with a website on how to hold your breath underwater. Columbus Police initially searched the area around the park and sent dive teams in the Scioto River. That search was called off after several reported sightings and new information uncovered by police in their investigation.

Columbus Police believe Payton is with a man, who appears to be in his 20s, that is unknown to her family and friends. He is described as 5-foot-8-inches tall, having dark hair, green eyes and scruffy facial hair.

Payton was spotted at Steak ‘n Shake off Fishinger Road and other locations in the area.

Police attempted to get surveillance video from the other locations but say it was unavailable. In some cases, the recordings had been taped over, cameras didn’t exist, or the recording device was full and didn’t record.

According to police, Payton may be driving a small, black Honda Civic with damage above the right taillight.

Sgt. Dean Worthington said, "cadaver dogs alerted on the area Thursday, we weren't able to get back into the until today."

While I certainly pray for answers for her family, hoping they haven't had false hope this whole time. It would explain the lack of additional sightings.

Columbus police pulled a body from the Scioto River near Hayden Falls Park on the Northwest Side on Monday.

The body has not been identified, and authorities weren’t immediately releasing more details. The Franklin County coroner’s office will help determine the identity.
The park is where the car of a missing 17-year-old, Payton Young, was found after she had last been seen by family members on Jan. 21; since then, police have received reports of sightings of Payton around the city.
