PIKE COUNTY, Ohio —

A town woke up one morning to the horror that eight people were brutally killed. The Rhoden family suffered an unthinkable loss eight times over on one late April night in 2016. And years would go by before an arrest was made, and the massacre of an entire family still haunts Pike County, Ohio to this day. The murders of the Rhoden family still haunt small Ohio community

2012 - AG DeWine issued press release announcing LE had discovered “a major marijuana grow site”in Pike County with suspected ties to a Mexican drug cartel. During the discovery, 1200 plants were destroyed by investigators and two abandoned campsites were located, which they believe had belonged to Mexican nationals.

Between 1 am and 7 am - the following were murdered

  • Christopher Rhoden, Sr. (age 40): Nine (face, torso, extremities).
  • Dana Rhoden (age 37): Five (head).
  • Hannah Gilley (age 20): Five (head)
  • Christopher Rhoden, Jr. (age 16): Four (head).
  • Clarence “Frankie” Rhoden (age 20): Three (head). Two were “contact wounds” as indicated by soot from the gun on his skull.
  • Gary Rhoden (age 37): Three “contact” wounds (head).
  • Hanna Rhoden (19): Two (head).
  • Kenneth Rhoden (age 44): One (right eye).

Approx 7:55 am: Billy Jo Manley runs next door to trailer of Frankie Rhoden & Hannah Gilley. Door is locked, she hears toddler inside, asks him to open the door. She then discovers the bodies of Frankie & Hannah. She takes the children outside to her car.

7:15 - 7:53 am: Sometime after discovering the bodies, Billy Jo Manley calls her brother James Manley. He and his son go to the home of Dana Rhoden and discover she is dead. According to his wife, James doesn't go further into Dana's home, though he can see her legs and hear a baby crying.

8:07 am: Deputy Chandler arrived "at a neighboring residence where he was flagged down by a subject. Deputy Chandler advised that he needed multiple ambulances due to multiple down at multiple residences."

8:12 am: Deputy Music, Deputy Ball, and Major Evans all arrived "on scene" where they were approached by [Redacted] (later revealed it was James Manley) who stated: "there are two more dead people here." [Redacted] pointed to the residence at 4077 Union Hill.

FCSO later retracts the statement. A neighbor of Flying W Farms who witnessed the vehicle caravan entering and leaving the property is interviewed, claiming there was a SWAT vehicle and an ambulance present.

I can't believe Jake took the plea deal but soo glad he did! Now Ms Geneva can rest a bit. RIP Chris Sr. Gary. Frankie, Hanna Hazel Gilley Dana, Hanna Mae, Chris Jr and Kenneth Rhoden. May Sophia, Ruger and Brently remember their parents in some small way even if only by photos and stories. Now I want the details! Make the Wagners live the rest of their lives in misery.

@cujenn81 was a big help at first, organizing information and facts from news articles. The information came in sporadically at first and it was confusing and overwhelming with so many victims, so many crime scenes, etc.

JW's statements gave them the weapons used (obtained as evidence) and info on vehicles used for the crime, including one used only the night of the murders, so at least two vehicles. He admits to shooting five of the victims, and admits they were all in on it the night of the murders.

It's looking like they all went house to house together. Maybe except KR's, hard to tell.

They tried to destroy the weapons, but apparently the weapons were still somewhere to be retrieved by LE after JW's statements.
 
Well, I am ecstatic waking and hearing this news. Like most, I've followed this from the outset but wasn't as active posting, recently. Hopefully, the Rhoden and Gilley family can take a deep breath and realize the culprits will never see the light of day. A sentence of life without parole is harder than a death penalty. IMO I couldn't imagine being 28 knowing I'll be spending 40 plus years in a tiny cell, surrounded by foul smells, loud mouths and endless boredom. JUSTICE has started to be applied. There is still a long way to go but the light can be seen, finally.

If I were to bet, my guess is that he didn’t kill Chris Sr., Gary, or Kenny.

I believe the articles are pretty much the same. You also have different people that write the articles and use their own wording and interpretation. I see articles written all the time that are different about the very same thing. I also do not think everyone says everything the exact way word for word each time they say it. I do not think that means they are lying if they happen to leave out some wording they used previously, if it generally means the same. I would say that Kendra or others may not know if KR was gonna be on vacation. I never used to tell anyone I was taking a vacation day or gonna be off, maybe some people do tell everyone.

Sure, however we know The Daily Mail plays loose with the truth.
 
I say the story of the buying of the bullet proof vests now makes perfect sense! FW knew they had committed these murders! She didn’t buy him the vest to protect him during the murders! She bought them to protect him from revenge from the Rhodens Gilleys and Manleys. I would say that’s a strong indication that she knew.

Exactly what I was thinking! FR and HG introduced HR to the brother and she got pregnant! How dare them! DR was a good mom, she stood up for her children and grandchildren, how dare she! Little CR was probably a smart a$$ to him, little brothers, and might have just woken up and was collateral damage. HR, well she was moving on! He really didn’t have a beef with GR KR or CRSR.
 
From Angela Canepa's Statement of Facts (paraphrased)
  1. Phones of 6 of the victims, trail cams and DVRs were removed from the crime scenes
  2. Shoe prints in blood at a crime scene match the infamous Walmart shoes.
  3. Wagner phones and financial accounts were acquired by investigators and examined.
  4. Purchases were made 2-3 months prior to murders of: brass catchers, ammunition, magazines and clips, phone jammer, parts to make DIY silencers.
  5. At the US/Canadian border in Montana a laptop was seized.
  6. 2 Facebook accounts were hacked. Persons were unnamed.
  7. A screenshot of a conversation between one of the persons who was hacked and HMR was found on the laptop. HMR was upset that JW wanted her to change the custody arrangement stating "They will have to kill me first"
    • This was first seen by AW who then showed it to JW
  8. 3 custody documents were forged. AW, JW, and GW4 participated in creating these documents.
    1. HMR giving custody of SW to JW in the event of her death.
    2. JW giving custody of SW to AW in the event of his death.
    3. GW4 giving custody of BW to AW in the event of his death.
    • Docs were printed on 4/3/16 but dated 1 -1 1/2 years prior
    • RN was the notary on all three
    • RN and HMR signatures on the documents were forged. RN believes AW forged RN's signature
    • RN says that AW asked her to lie to investigators and say that she in fact did notarize
    • Prosecution says they know that HMR's signature was forged (I am assuming JW confessed as to who actually forged, but Canepa does not specify this.)
  9. In Nov 2018 the burnt remains of a "prototype silencer that failed" were found at Peterson Rd.
Jake provided new info not previously known to investigators
  1. Weapons and vehicles used in the commission of the murders
    • 1 vehicle was purchased specifically for this purpose and used only on the night of the murders.
  2. JW admits that all 4 members of the family participated and planned.
    • Member(s) of extended family were involved in some aspects (I am assuming obstruction possibly, but at a minimum this refers to RN's involvement)
  3. They started in the late hours of 4/21 and went into the early hours of 4/22
  4. 2 DIY silencers were used
  5. The Wagners destroyed or got rid of the aforementioned victim phones, trail cams and DVRs
    • JW admits that they tried to destroy the "prototype silencer" found at Peterson Rd.
  6. JW personally caused the death of 5 of the 8 victims
