No, he's just looking slightly down combined with the shadow makes it appear dark around his eyes and it's probably the evil exuded from him. I also agree that he is mad not only for the reasons already listed above but I also think he's mad that he no longer can do his daily routines such as looking through his sick photo and video collections and he's mad that he's never going to be able to do the evil Deeds he so enjoyed doing but most of all I think he's Furious that he is no longer in control !! he's locked behind bars now and knows he's not going to get out ever again ! that loss of control has infuriated him I think.
I see him as a coward and weak. He never once has looked up during his times in court. I can't stand seeing him in the news. Prayers for SJs momma wearing her justiceforsierah shirt to court.

Yes....I grew up in Fulton County. He is a very well respected judge, and has been doing this for a long time. Nobody runs against him, and there has been a long line of Barbers (I believe his father and grandfather) who also served as Fulton County Judges. He is one of the most fair, nonjudgmental (as crazy as that sounds) parent figures I've had in my life. He definitely believes in the constitutional rights...I've talked with him about other cases, and when I get disgusted, he reminds me of the constitutional rights. As the father to a daughter, no doubt he is horrified of Worley's list of charges. Whether or not he presides over this case will depend on if Worley pleas guilty....if Worley pleas guilty, I believe James Barber will be the judge, if it goes before a jury I think Jeff Robinson will be the judge. Last I knew, Judge Barber will be retiring in December.

Thanks .... your insight is appreciated!

He IS a coward and weak but you can bet he is angry as hell he got caught, and probably considers himself to be persecuted and blames it all on the victims. I bet he is angry as hell at Ce as she led him to be caught. Boohoo! YOU GOT HIM CHICK! He is pathetic

Here's a question I've been stewing about: Since JDW's DNA has been run through DNA databases, looking for matches against other victims, when will we hear about those results? Is it possible that they could already have matched JDW to other victims, but do not make that known to the public, and other victims' families, to protect the integrity of this current investigation...ensuring that the jury pool is not tainted with excess media??

When we will know? I want justice to be served for Sierah...but I also want it to be served for the rest of the victims.

I'm not in the legal field....and I appreciate any thoughts on this. With technology today, you would think that LE already has answers regarding other victims.

Why is JW not at these hearings "live"? Are they afraid of transporting him? I think it's highly unlikely someone would help himnescape, but is LE being cautious so that the general public does not take justice into their own hands?
And what does JW see on his monitor....just the judge or the others attending the hearing? Does he see Sierah's family?

My guess is that LE doesnt want to risk someone shooting him while in transport. He is a very hated man.

JW should see the Judge in his monitor. Not certain about the family or not. But definitely the judge.

There are definitely security issues--escaping and violence toward a prisoner. Given that, it is cheaper to have video conferencing. They don't have to pay for transport, extra deputies for transport, prisoner security at the courthouse, and less people on hand in the courtroom. In general, it is a cost saving measure.

I think that video conferencing also allows for faster processing of cases on a given day. They can very easily move from one case to the next without having to escort and change the prisoners.

I think he sees the judge and not the full courtroom but I am not sure.

SJCaseFollower, imo the antiquated silent investigative strategy enabled JDW to remain stealth for years or decades while preying on unsuspecting innocent victims. Imo, JDW will be investigated by multiple local, state, and national law enforcement agencies and it will be up to the citizens of the Ohio community and the mainstream media to pry investigative information via presser updates. Hopefully you can find a few answers to your questions from the info below..

FBI Serial Murder <Symposium 2005>
The Serial Murder Symposium was conceived, planned, and coordinated by the staff of the Behavioral Analysis Unit-2 (BAU-2). The resources of BAU-2 are focused on serial, mass, and other murders; sexual assaults; kidnappings; and other criminal acts targeting adult victims. BAU-2 staff members have developed significant expertise on the subject of serial murder and regularly provide operational assistance, conduct research, and provide training on issues related to serial murder.

Serial Murder: The unlawful killing of two or more victims by the same offender(s), in separate events.
• The majority of serial killers who are sexually motivated erotized violence during development. For them, violence and sexual gratification are inexplicably intertwined
in their psyche.

VI. Investigative Issues and Best Practices

VII. Forensic Issues in Serial Murder Cases

Forensic laboratories have developed advanced analytical techniques through the use of computer technology. Systems such as the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), various Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS), and the National Integrated Ballistics Identification Network (NIBIN), were identified by the symposium as beneficial to serial murder investigations, by providing links between previously unrelated cases.

CODIS is a national automated DNA information processing and telecommunications system that was developed to link biological evidence (DNA) in criminal cases, between various jurisdictions around the United States. Samples in CODIS include DNA profiles obtained from persons convicted of designated crimes, DNA profiles obtained from crime scenes, DNA profiles from unidentified human remains, and DNA from voluntary samples taken from families of missing persons.

The CODIS data bank of these samples is comprised of three different indices or levels: the National DNA Index System (NDIS), the State DNA Index System (SDIS), and the Local DNA Index System (LDIS).

VIII. Prosecution of Serial Murder Cases

IX. Media Issues in Serial Murder Investigations

Serial murder cases are inherently newsworthy. Some investigations last for years. Many attract attention because of the type of victims involved, and in others the serial killers themselves are media-attractive. Media attention is exacerbated by the insatiable demands of the twenty-four-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week news reporting industry. The constant news attention on the investigation inevitably results in conflicts with law enforcement.

Often the relationship between law enforcement and the media is not a close one. In some law enforcement agencies, there is a long history of distrust and resentment underpinning this relationship. From the law enforcement perspective, the media publishes unauthorized information from investigations, hypothesizes on investigative progress, and uses talking heads to critique the investigative efforts. From the media’s standpoint, law enforcement withholds too much information and does not communicate adequately with the media. It is counterproductive for law enforcement to sustain contentious relationships with the media, while attempting to develop an overall strategy for a successful serial murder investigation. The only party who benefits from this negative relationship is the serial murderer, who may continue to avoid detection. A respectful, cooperative relationship between law enforcement and the media will serve the missions of both.

Although there is precedence for a prolific serial killer attempting to bolt during court proceedings, the video conferencing is prolly the safest way to proceed in the preliminary hearings prior to trial. JDW will be present in the courtroom during his trial, which will likely be months or years away, imo.

Barista kidnaping: Serial Killer Israel Keyes tries to flee Anchorage, Alaska courtroom
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/05/25/thump-then-shouts-during-prisoner-escape-attempt.html

May 2012 - ANCHORAGE, Alaska – A thump and then a chorus of screams are heard in an audio recording of an attempted escape from court by a man accused of kidnapping and killing an Alaska barista.

Israel Keyes was quickly subdued with a stun gun in the federal courtroom in Anchorage after he somehow broke his leg irons Wednesday. But for a few moments, people can be heard screaming and shouting, "Get him!" One woman shouted, "Kill him!"

I had to take a break, the murder of this young lady got to me more then most, just to my core. I keep thinking of her boyfriend. I feel for the entire family, it must be a nightmare, but the boyfriend must be beyond devastated and I really do pray for him. I will say I worked detentions/corrections for many years, I made sure my inmates were in as safe/secure an environment I could provide during each of my shifts. I am not sure with old age I have not become weaker, but I honestly cannot imagine being his jailer... Giving him tylenol for a headache, giving him food, he does not deserve to breath our air. I am so angry at this monster....IMHO

"I realize right this minute that his family wants him on death row, I don't... I want him in a wheelchair in general population.. I want him to suffer until they fix him again, put him back in general population and he suffers again. He is a sick, disgusting beast". http://nbc24.com/news/local/james-worley-faces-19-counts-for-death-of-sierrah-joughin

Wow Lori Hills sister was there! I know a few others that went but I'm sure some didn't get in due to the small courtroom.

I will be surprised if he's not responsible for Lori's death.

And I'd love to see him in general population.

Unfortunately the haircut is likely a PR attempt. They will want him to look ckean shaven and tge guy next door. It drives me nuts that they get so many things that the average citizen has to take care of on our own. If we want haircuts or wardrobes we have to buy. People like him, or Casey Anthony have people on the legal teams looking at what to dress them in to make them appear more respectable.

Very True, but I think his expression as it is in this pic, will tell the truth come the time. I think that nothing would make him appear more respectable.

Me too Portabella. I had to just log out one night and skip reading anythin here for about 4 days. I remember reading here one night and suddenly feeling like I was going to cry and throw up at the same time. I understand. In your line of work, you almost have to step back and take a breather to get healthy enough to do your job again.
