After learning of her daughters failure to appear at the court hearing, Ralston said she went to the duplex and that Tighe answered the front door. He told her that her daughter and Peyton werent there. He said she went camping with a friend and hasnt been back, Ralston said. But that story didnt ring true.
My daughter, Ralston told the jury, is Coach [purses], furs and diamonds. She doesnt do camping. Moments later, after going upstairs to her daughters bedroom, she said she saw something wasnt right. The bed had no sheets or blankets on it, she testified. She then went to see Tallmadge police, she said, and filed a missing-persons report.
Still worried three days later it was now Aug. 10 Ralston said she went to the duplex with her sister and headed for the backyard. As her sister searched an area near a tall, privacy fence, Ralston said she soon came upon what she thought was a bag in a squishy area of the woods. There also was a strong odor, she said. Her sister urged her not to open the bag, she said, but to go to the police to report the discovery.
