An investigation is underway regarding human remains that were found in rural eastern Haskell County, according to Sheriff Tim Turner.

The sheriff's office received information about possible skeletal remains on Tuesday, Feb. 5.

Lt. Terry Garland confirmed that the remains were human, and the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner's Office was contacted, according to Turner.

Representatives of the sheriff's office, along with the medical examiner's office and Oklahoma District 18 Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, began processing the scene and collecting the skeletal remains on Thursday, Feb. 7.

“The investigation is ongoing. We're very hopeful we can bring closure to the family and identify these skeletal remains. We believe we know the possible identity of the remains, but until we get confirmation from the medical examiner's office, we will not release that name,” Turner said.

South of I-40.

Large reservoir and a casino.

No idea where in this county the remains were found.

Love it that the image on Google Maps is a tractor in a parking lot...

Sheriff: Skeletal remains found, identification process may be lengthy

Identification of skeletal remains found in rural eastern Haskell County last week may not be known for more than a year, according to Sheriff Tim Turner.

:) Ok, it's been a year.

I've not found any updates. Maybe we'll get one soon. Hopefully they'll get an ID but if not, a description of the remains would help narrow down the list of possible matches.

They said they think they know who it is. Also, they need to get on top of that backlog, 12-18 months turn around time for ID confirmation is absolutely ridiculous.

I sent a FB message (only means of contact I could find besides calling) to the Haskell County S.O. I will let you know if they respond.

I live about 2 miles where they found the skeletal remains. The story around town is they positively id who this was. Of course the rumors really took off about this case. I haven't personally seen any news about the persons id. But last week i heard Tim Turner Haskell County Sheriff made statement about the id of this person. I wasnt sure if i could just say the name without proof.

Can you find a Missing poster for the person mentioned, or a main stream media article stating the person is missing???

(Lil bit of a stretch, but....)
