8-year-old Jaxon Daniel Townsend and 7-year-old Josephine Joy Townsend. A Logan County Court ordered law enforcement to find these children and immediately return them to their grandparents Dan and Joy Newton who live in Guthrie. An arrest warrant has been issued for the Children's father, Gary Daniel Townsend for missing a court date.

I’m not completely sure of their missing date. It seems to imply December 20th.

The children were placed to the custody of the grandparents by an emergency court order on Jan. 13.

However, the children were never turned over to the grandparents, and have not been seen, including at school in Pauls Valley.

The children may have spent some time in Chicago since their disappearance. Police officials in Illinois have been made aware of the situation.

If you have any information, you’re encouraged to call the Guthrie Police Department at 405-282-3535.

If you go to the Oklahoma case lookup site you can find the case, including handwritten minutes entries and such.
    https://www.oscn.net/dockets/GetCaseInformation.aspx?db=logan&number=FMI-2017-19&cmid=108679

It appears that the Grandparents only had visitation. While this case goes back to 2017 there has been a push since March of 2019 by the Grandparents and a reciprocal fight by the father. There is an individual associated with the Grandparents that the father does not want the children around. It is unclear why that is. The escalation in this case, per the docket, is due to a contempt order for not allowing visitation, the Guardian Ad Litum petitioning for a mental health evaluation of the father, a second contempt order, and finally the violation of an order that the Grandparents would pick the children up after school on December 20th for visitation over Christmas break. The docket is on-going and there are motions and answers flying since December 20th and continuing to January 14th.

Pretty messy situation. I haven't dug into this case too much, but does anyone know what the situation is with the mother of these children?

Did you look at the very last handwritten pdf? Did it say in Illinois with....... (a name) ?

From one of the court docs, the children’s mother was battling stage 4 cancer. I do know she has passed away. She did however remarry while she was fighting stage 4 cancer. The individual the father doesn’t want the children around can be determined after looking at the link below. Agreed, this case is messy, and extremely sad.

Appears to be a well loved set of grandparents.

If you look at the grandmothers imbedded Facebook post and notice the tagged person you will find it is the children’s mother.
Children missing; believed to be with father

It is interesting though, that there can be a warrant for the fathers arrest, yet in the vallow case, it appears there is not.

Okay. Found out about the mother. She is deceased (breast cancer). She had remarried and now I know who it is that Gary didn't want around the kids - the guy she had married. Divorce starts in July of 2015. Decree in February of 2017. She marries October of 2017. Dies in January of 2018. But now I know why this is messy (especially if you read the memorial on Find A Grave). Mom motioned 1 month after her new marriage for sole custody (and she had to know she was dying) and I don't know where this was all headed since, as their father, he would get custody unless there was something major to preclude it.

At this point, dad has made things worse especially since he had been handling much of the Grandparents case on his own pro se. It would be in his best interests in just coming back.

I must correct the part about handling the grandparents case. He did have representation throughout rather than pro se.

Is the father a threat to his children?

Based on everything I have seen, it doesn't appear that way. Law enforcement hasn't said they are endangered. No criminal record. Photos on his FB and his girlfriend's FB show happy kids. Nothing seems out of whack.
