Fellow inmate of Nancy Crampton Brophy testifies against her in murder trial
Anndrea Jacobs said she was in incarcerated in Multnomah County jail when Crampton Brophy described how close the gun was from her husband when he was shot.

When Overstreet asked if Jacobs had ever asked how Dan Brophy died, she replied that she did and that Crampton Brophy told her he was shot twice in the heart. She said Crampton Brophy fully stretched out her arms and said, "it was about this far."
Jacobs told the prosecutor that Crampton Brophy initially started to say "I" instead of "it," but that she appeared to have misspoken and corrected herself.

Jacobs said she did not willingly choose to be involved in the trial, and that she was brought from Texas to Oregon only based on the information she provided detectives.
She said that she has received threats from fellow inmates since she was set to testify in the trial.

Oregon romance writer’s alleged slip-up confession to husband’s killing never happened, former bunkmate says
On the stand, inmate Anndrea Jacobs described the jailhouse conversation as a barely noticeable slip of the tongue.
The testimony of a last-minute witness expected to offer bombshell evidence
that romance writer Nancy Crampton Brophy inadvertently admitted to killing her chef husband largely fizzled Wednesday as the murder trial nears an end.
Crampton Brophy’s former jail bunkmate instead described the comment as a simple verbal error.

Spent time with State’s motions regarding defense’s sur-rebuttal witnesses.
State rested their rebuttal case.
Defesnse Sur-rebuttal witnesses: Richard Hursuy, investigator for the defense. Jury sent home for day.
Had proper hearing of Rosalind Lee, attorney in Federal court. To refute Anndrea Jacobs’ testimony.
The Judge will decide tomorrow re defense’s sur-rebuttal witnesses.

Crampton Brophy did not speak during Monday’s proceedings, but held several whispered conversations with her sister during breaks in the trial. If convicted of second-degree murder, she faces the prospect of life in prison with a minimum of 25 years behind bars.
