I have not seen this case, so wanted to start a thread for this sweet girl.
Maliyha Hope Garcia died after years of starvation at the hands of her adoptive parents, Court records show they debated whether to get her help in the days leading up to her death. They tried to say she had been refusing to eat due to the flu, but her body showed the truth: starvation.
The girl was adopted by her uncle, Estevan Garcia, when Maliyha was 3 months old. Her birth mother lost custody of her due to Meth. The uncle then married Sacora Horn-Garcia in Dec 2014. When their families blended, there were numerous children. In her obituary written by the parents, they listed 9 sisters. http://www.bendbulletin.com/obituaries/4952025-151/maliyha-hope-garcia
None of the other children showed any evidence of abuse or neglect.
The parents are in jail awaiting trial, indicted for murder. They pled not-guilty. http://www.bendbulletin.com/home/5523157-151/redmond-couple-charged-with-murder-plead-not-guilty
