Ken called me back to tell me that Coffee Creek is an evaluation facility. He might end up in the State Penitentiary at Salem or possibly a facility in Eastern Oregon. Should be a max facility? Oh, and for the gun charges, he got another 21/2 years added on to his sentence, so he should be behind bars for 47 years unless he dies first.

I want to thank everyone who has been following this case for your support from Ken, Terry, Terry's wife, and myself and the rest of our family.

I hope you ALL are doing well now that he has been sentenced - finally. It has been a very long trip for you all. I do wish he would have said WHERE Mark is buried.... Bless you all!

I second what @Niner said so well @LinasK. I’m glad we were able to be here for you and your family and to see justice served at long last. Hugs to you all!

I'm a complete stranger, but thank you for sharing Mark's story and keeping us updated as the wheels of justice have slowly turned.

Mark really has a remarkable family.

Just returned from Portland, and I have a slight update: Talked to Ken last night and Detective McGuire made good on his promise to ask Lovrien to show him where he buried Mark. He went to visit him at the Snake River Correctional Facility. Apparently it's a real hellhole and 372 miles or almost 6 hours from Portland, and it's located on a really desolate wasteland. Lovrien hates it there and is pitching a fit and refusing to cooperate. (I'd think he'd want a field trip out of there). He's also appealing. None of this is surprising since he's a liar, and it's been so long that we didn't realistically have a chance of recovering much if any of Mark's remains after all this time. Still it would have been nice.

So sorry to read this, @LinasK :(
Could there be a possibility that the detective or someone else negotiates placement in a better facility once the remains of Mark are found? IMO possibly Lovrien's lawyer would be open to that. So you can bring him home at last. Dang!

Unfortunately it's very unlikely that he even knows where exactly he put him. I attempted to drive to Larch Mountain a few months ago and we got lost on the way there and the road was closed. It was a very pretty mountain with lots of trees and overlooks the Columbia river. Most likely he wants to be closer to Portland for his brother and other family to visit. Personally, I'm glad he's as far away from Portland as possible and in a wasteland. It's exactly what he deserves for his selfish actions. One murder you might be able to claim heat of passion/self-defense, but not two, and he mutilated his second victim.

Another little tidbit that was interesting to me: He had 12+ aliases, all variations on spelling of his name, or one of them used his brother's first name. They are listed further down on the Offender search.
