One wonders why it took them so long and if Rachanda might still be alive today if they had gotten him sooner for the murder of Kaye Turner.

I've just called in a possible match to a Linn County UID, though it's very unlikely and there are virtually no identifiers, but think its geographic proximity makes it worth a punt at the very least.

Cases like this make me seeth with rage! :banghead: If still alive Ackroyd should be grilled by LE on her whereabouts. Is there any way to find out if he's still alive or his incarceration status?

There are a number of different ways to locate people. Discussing all those methods would probably fill a book.

But in regard to inmates, that CAN be easy - depending on when the person was incarcerated, whether or not they are still living, and most importantly - in what state they were incarcertated.

If you google "Free Inmate Locator", you will find some sites which have links to all the state inmate registries and to Federal inmate registries as well.

If the person is still alive and still in prison, you can usually locate them pretty fast, but you might have to try a number of different registries one at a time. They are not all connected. Each has different bits of information.

Some registries, like Michigan's will list inmates going way back to the 1960's or earlier - even if they only served a year and was released.

Some registries include information about deaths in prison, but other state registries simply delete names when the inmate dies or is released.

Give it a try and see what you come up with.

Also, you can often search on-line court decisions and appeals which might produce some interesting information and leads.

Thanks Richard; he's serving life w/o parole, as is his hunting partner Roger Dale Beck who was also convicted for the murder of Kay Turner. Apparently claimed to have found Turner's body, 8 months after her disappearance, as the shallow grave had been disturbed by animals. Sadly, I think if he had he been disposing of another body he wouldn't have made a similar mistake :banghead: but great to see that the LE have at least managed to take him off the streets

I received an email from Dr. Vance of the Oregon ME's office. They're doing a DNA test on the neurocranium, she said she'll email me when the results are in. I'll keep y'all posted.

THANK YOU Linn County Sheriff's department! They are the BEST! :heartluv:

Wednesday afternoon, Pickle’s stepfather John Arthur Ackroyd, 63, was charged with her murder in Linn County Circuit Court. Bail was set at $1 million by Judge Carol Bispham.

Ackroyd was represented by Lane County attorney Elizabeth Baker, who said she knew little about the murder case and had been contacted to represent Ackroyd only a few hours before the arraignment.

A resolution conference was set for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 8.
