Lincoln City Police report no substantial leads in the search for missing 71-year old Warren Gardner.
The search for Gardner began Thursday morning, Jan. 24, with a command post set up at 17th Street and Oar Place Avenue by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office assisting Lincoln City Police.
The initial search area covered several blocks bordered by NE 14th Street to NE 21st Street and from Oar Place Avenue to Regatta Grounds Park. Much of the area is dense hilly, forested land.
No sign of Gardner was found during the search on Thursday, Jan. 24, according to Lincoln City Police.
The search was launched after Gardner’s family contacted Lincoln City Police saying they had not heard from him for several days.
"They requested a welfare check,” Lincoln City Police Lt. David Broderick said. “We went to his home and we were unable to locate him."
Broderick said Gardner suffers from high blood pressure and diabetes.
On Jan. 28, the initial search was scaled back.
“We are keeping an eye on the search areas and around the Devils Lake and Spring Lake,” Lincoln City Police Sgt Jeffrey Winn said on Monday, Jan. 28. “He has been missing long enough that we don’t know how far he could have gone or where he could have gone. We are classifying this as a missing person and are concerned because he takes medication.”
Winn encourages anyone that might know where Gardner is, to call Lincoln City Police at the non-emergency phone number of 541-994-3636.
