Thrilled to share that Othram was able to assist the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department in identifying 57-year-old James Hollowell Harvey, whose remains were found in 1970. This case was funded through the Roads to Justice (RTJ) program and we are so grateful for the support!

This case might be too obscure for a Websleuths thread.

So inspiring to see these old cases for California being solved - I've always researched them bc I was under the impression they'd never be solved.
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) - any chance this case is on the pipeline?

Wow...52-year-old scorched remains. This is quite a powerful technology.

Did the Sheriff say where Mr. Harvey was originally from, or whether he was ever reported missing? Was he homeless, or simply estranged from his family?

I did find a thread for a middle aged male, skeletal, found in Nov '70, but the NamUs number is slightly different, so I assume it's a different Doe. There's no mention of burning with that Doe, and he was found with clothing, cash, and a full set of dentures.

He was not homeless but he had not been in touch with family and given he was born in 1913, the records are just not that great. Investigators are still working to piece things together.

Thrilled to share that Othram, as part of an ongoing collaboration with the Spokane Medical Examiner's Office, helped identify a 1980 homicide victim as 56-year-old Donald Pearson.

Can someone help with the Websleuths thread?

Another successful case resolution with the Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office. Othram is thrilled to continue the collaboration by assisting in the identification of 2015 homicide victim, Bret Snow. The people responsible for his death are known, but Bret was not found until now.

This is an interesting case as there were two NamUs cases tied to the same victim.

No Doe thread for either NamUs number.

Bret's case thread is here:

"The Knox County Regional Forensic Center is tasked with identifying bodies every single day. It's not always that simple."

A Texas-based company could provide that answer. Othram Inc. is cracking mysteries across the country using advanced genomic techniques including what it calls "Forensic-Grade Genome Sequencing."

Last September, it identified remains found decades ago in Campbell County as Tracy Sue Walker, a missing Indiana teenager.

In March, it identified remains found decades ago in Gatlinburg as Charlotte Roberta Henry.

"If that is successful, we believe that we're going to be able to clear several of our unidentified cases by just finding familial DNA and being able to identify the next of kin of who these individuals were," Thomas said. "Hopefully by this time next year, we may have several of our unidentified cases closed which we're very excited about."
