PA PA - Richard Petrone, 35, & Danielle Imbo, 34, Philadelphia, 19 Feb 2005 - #3

Most professional hit men don't hide their victims bodies or hide their vehicles.

Also, if Imbo, the soon to be ex, wanted Danielle back, why not have the hit man target just Petrone?
people who commit murder or who hire a hit man, especially in a nasty divorce situation are not always logical. He may have been enraged that she did not want him back and he was obviously angry that she was dating Petrone as evidenced by his telling Richard Petrone to stay away from his wife.

Look, I don't know if he was involved or not: this case represents a huge mystery that may never get solved. From my perspective, the ex is certainly a suspect and the police have said as much-- that he has not been ruled out.

That still does not answer the question of why hide the bodies and the truck. If their bodies were found, and the truck was missing, people would assume it was a carjacking.

Why would the ex husband be involved? One of the oldest reasons in the book..Jealousy. "If I can't have her, no one will."
It was a Saturday night in South Street Philly..no one heard or seen anything and apparently, no camera footage. I'm on the fence between a hired killing and the truck going into the water. I do question why a hit man would not just leave the bodies and truck..unless they were instructed to get rid of everything. Maybe to leave everyone questioning if Danielle and Richard left on their own accord or went into the river..kinda like what we are still doing now in 2024/2025...

The problem, as I see it, is the opposite. Imbo, the ex, is under a cloud of suspicion. Had this looked like a carjacking, they, Danielle and Richard, would have just regarded as victims of a random crime.

Remember there are several theories on this case ..until a lead is generated, none can be discounted.

One is obviously the hit theory, however another is that is may not have been anything nefarious at all but that like so many disappearances where the missing persons vehicles has gone missing, they are finding these vehicles with the occupants in bodies of water several years after the individuals have gone missing.

Now there are several bodies of water near where they were a few of which were searched, but that doesn't mean anything sometimes they just don't find them.

For example bout a year ago they found a submerged vehicle in the Delaware river that had a pylon driven right through it and a dock built over top with the missing diver who disappeared 10 years prior still inside , it was discovered accidentally .

They just pulled 2 more from the river a few months ago they are still waiting on ID of the occupants

There are many theories, on this case , I wont discuss the rest Ive heard but in a case, without a defined direction never lose sight of other possibilities, despite what you feel.

Until you have something that gives it some direction it just sits there .

Yep- one theory is as good as the next----

They could be in the water. but didn't LE say they had checked all of the cameras and none of them show the vehicle crossing any of the bridges which would have been on their route home? Also, didn't the FBI say they were the victim of foul play?
They are oficially listed as Missing per the FBI. an agent with the Philadelphia office said he suspects foul play, but thats not official.

From reading the above-referenced article- it is stated the following:
Although her ex husband wanted the divorce, he changed his mind and wanted to get back with her- he asked for another chance half-way thru divorce proceedings. He kept pressing her to get back with him and even called Richard Petrone at his bakery, telling Richard to "stay away from my wife". Their divorce has been described as "rough". The ex husband had Danielle's phone pass code and listened to her voice mail.
We, who follow true crime know that above scenario has given way to ex husbands murdering their ex-wives-- All that acrimony-- is quite the motive.
Yes, I know Petrone felt threatened and told his Mom and sister as much weeks/months before he went missing. After I listened to the I❤️heart podcast, I had doubts about his involvement because, among other things, Danielle’s brother said that his parents guilted him into trying to win her back. It was only a year before that he left Danielle and moved to Georgia to be with someone else. Her disappearance ruined his life. He’s been under a cloud of suspicion and had a heart attack in his 30’s, It’s not the usual man kills wife, collects insurance and runs off with younger woman scenario.

Do you have any thoughts on what the FBI Agent based his suspicion on? MOO, but I don't think the Agent would have said that without something to base it on.

There and Gone - South Street podcast had the FBI on it and he had a lot of interesting things to say. It COULD tie into Fishtown and the pill operation going on at the time —one of them knew something/were at the wrong place at wrong time - someone viewed them as a threat and the killer(s) knew they were in the bar and where the truck was parked. They could have been ambushed, killed and then crushed along with the truck. Just a theory— IMOO

I very much believe that these two are in the water with the vehicle. It's a shame the owner of Adventures With Purpose ended up being such a bad person. I think a similar organization will find them someday.

He will always live under a cloud of suspicion---if he is innocent, and he well may be innocent, his life is ruined.

When you dissect this case, your left with very little if anything at all..
No crime scene, cell phones dead, no financial transactions since disappearance, no bodies, no truck, no witnesses..
Almost 20 years later and nothing has surfaced. Frustrating to say the least..

If you take a deep dive into this case, and the podcast is certainly a deep dive, you will realize that very few people knew where they would be the night they disappeared and those that did had no ties to anyone with a motive to kill either.

There have been quite a few high profile cases of people who vanished along with their vehicle and were only found years later in some body of water along their planned route. It is amazing how far a vehicle, being driven at normal speeds, will travel forward in water before it sinks to the bottom. I think it is very unlikely that the pair are anywhere other than in the truck at the bottom of some body of water. The “wildcard” in this case is that while it was believed they were heading back to Danielle’s condo in New Jersey, they could have easily decided to go somewhere else in the greater Philadelphia metro area. My guess is that it will turn up eventually.

These could obviously be wrong & meant 2 be under his dads name if they’re the same but this is what a background search showed 3 years ago… u would think if it was him it would be flagged by the feds 2 see but if it was fake it should’ve also been flagged I would think… again this could totally be wrong but I thought it was interesting enough 2 share.
