I had an inkling that it was @othram involved, though I'm sure they were limited in what they cold say up until now. Amazing work, as always.

it seems like he hasnt had another felony, because if he had, he should have matched to baby Emily's DNA and i dont think he could have driven for MTA.

His eyes are very cold. After all that time. I am sure he never laid a hand on anybody after killing Evelyn and he worked, got married, had kids, was friendly with the neighbors.

But you cannot escape your past. Good he is cooperative with the authorities, though. He knows the game is over.

Not possible for her to have had a DNA test in 1976 although he was abusive and controlling. Perhaps believed it was not his child or used it as an excuse. How he could have done such a gruesome killing makes me suspicious if he had experience.

“Luis Sierra from Ozone Park was charged with one count of criminal homicide. Charges were filed shortly after his interview with Trooper Null in New York where he was taken into custody,” Carbon County District Attorney Michael Greek said.

Sierra is accused of killing two people, Evelyn Colon and her unborn baby girl. Could we see a second count of criminal homicide?

“That’s one of those things we have to address. Obviously in 1976, laws were different and didn’t provide for a homicide of an unborn child. There’s other investigative tools we are using now to determine whether a charge will be made for that case,” Greek said.

Either way, justice is in motion and a family now has closure after 44 years. Sierra is awaiting a preliminary hearing tentatively scheduled for April 28th.

Ancestry site helps police solve cold case killing of pregnant teen
''At a press conference Wednesday, State Police said they’re hopeful this isn’t the last case that gets solved with the help of genealogical websites. With the growing DNA databases helping to solve more and more cases across the country, they say there’s no limit to what could be accomplished.

“We do have other cases right now we are working on with that in mind,” said Police Lt. Devon Brutoksy. “By us submitting DNA and that getting put into public databases, which have tens of millions of people in there, it does help us.”

Ah with the picture of LS and the new pictures of Evelyn - looks like the woman on "We grew up in Jersey City" facebook group knew Evelyn after all. She said she would see LS watching Evelyn from the school gates. She said they didn't knew she was pregnant, just that she didn't turn up to their new high school

Pleased that she was finally identified after all these years. Another classic jd case closed for good and a young lady got her name back. Good job to everyone involved! Othram included.

There's a pretty good close up on her face that isn't blurry on the video that dotr just posted. Perhaps someone can post it here?

It seemed obvious as legitimate. That's why I didn't hesitate to comment regarding the photo with glasses in comparison to the sketches. Her info was matter of fact with proper blend of specifics and explanation.

As I mentioned weeks ago, the early sketch turned out to be the best. I saw a commenter on Grateful Doe on Reddit say the same thing yesterday, that the mouth open sketch was the best. Now that post tops the comments. The later reconstructions, for whatever reason, had the facial shape wrong and skin overly dark. But that is normalcy. There is confidence level and margin for error in reconstructions just like everything else. It is actually remarkable the percentage of later reconstructions that turn out to be superior to the early versions. This one went the other way.
