Still no sign of Texas Tech grad missing in Peru

There is still no sign of 35-year-old Carla Valpeoz, as her family continues to desperately search for answers. Carlos Valpeoz, Carla’s brother, said his family just wants answers about what happened to Carla.

“We're at day 36 now since she disappeared and we have no idea what happened to her, absolutely no idea and it's extremely frustrating, we believe that my family deserves answers,” Valpeoz said.

He said so far there’s been an extensive search of the Archeological park north of Pisac where Carla was believed to have entered on Dec. 12. “We now have supporting evidence, witness statements that suggest she had never entered the park,” Valpeoz said.

He said she was there for a wedding and then continued traveling the country with a tour group who helped her hike up Machu Picchu. After that, he said she wanted to continue touring Peru and ventured off by herself. He confirmed the last time she was seen was on security footage in Pisac.

“Based on the extensive search of that region, we don't believe that she got lost, my family believes she may have been a victim of a crime here,” Valpeoz said.

Her father is still in Cuzco searching for her, but Valpeoz said there haven't been any leads in the case. “They haven't found anything not a shoelace, nothing and so at this point we have reason to believe this should be addressed as a criminal investigation and we are pursuing that possibility,” Valpeoz said.

Oh, how frustrating that they spent all this time and effort searching the park just to find out she likely never entered the park! Time they could have searched elsewhere. I feel so bad for her family. It has to be very frustrating to many of her family and friends who would love to help search, but can’t afford a trip to Peru just to do so. I hate when people go missing outside of the country. It’s so much harder for the family to travel and search. I’m keeping an open mind that she could have had some freak accidental fall into something nobody would think to check, but it does look like something nefarious is more likely. All JMO, of course.

Carla's father should connect with Jesse Galganov's mother. He went missing in Huarez in Sep 2017, and has still not been found. AFAIR Jesse's mother enlisted the help of various organisations to search for him. She might have useful advice for Carla's family.

You know who else might be helpful is Beth Holloway. If you ever read her book (“Loving Natalee”), you’ll remember all the challenges she spoke of re: the international investigational aspects. She has much advice about this. She is also really good friends with Tim Miller as he went to Aruba to look for Natalee. I know that TES assists overseas, I wonder if Tim and company can be of help too. I’d like to get word to Tim, let me see what I can do. On it now.

New police search details reported on El Comercio's FB page (has not made it yet to their website) El Comercio de Cusco

Police will carry out a new exploration for disappeared tourist Carla Valpeoz: Specialists of the PNP of Lima will carry out searches in Pisac.

Agents of the National Police who have traveled to the province of Cusco in search of the American tourist Carla Valpeoz (35), will carry out a new exploration in the archaeological park of Pisac where she was last seen, it was reported.

Colonel PNP Carlos Valer, head of the Division of Criminal Investigation (Divincri) confirmed to the Andina Agency that specialists in Missing Persons will arrive from Lima to support in these search tasks of Carla Valpeoz, likewise, members of the Salvage Brigade will be added High Mountain (Usam) and Drones operators.

The official affirmed that there are places of difficult access in the park where they came to fly over the devices, but they did not accede; these hard-to-reach sectors will enter physically to know reliably if they are in these areas, or they may have fallen.

Likewise, the authorities continue with the search actions in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, enter mystic tourism places where they offer ayahuasca sessions, even arrived at a place where they said it would be, however, it was a Chilean with the same features.

Legally blind Detroit woman still missing 55 days after disappearing in Peru

    [SBM]

"Up to date we have no concrete answers of what has happened to my friend, and principally, her family, myself and my friends in Peru have done most of the investigative work," Garcia Steele said.

Her family was able to obtain video of Valpeoz walking with her green backpack past a drug store in the village of Pisac. They believe the video is from Dec. 12. There hasn't been any sign of Valpeoz since.

    [SBM]

There are three petitions Valpeoz's friends and families are asking members of the community to sign to support the search efforts.

Click here to view the petition asking senators to do everything they can to ensure the State Department prioritizes Valpeoz.

The foreigner took time to talk with Correo , and explain that, due to the little information he receives and in order to find his daughter as soon as possible, he has seen fit to offer a reward of 60 thousand soles to whom valid information that manages to find the whereabouts of Carla.

"I am very sad, there are no concrete results so far, nobody says anything and nobody saw anything, but I know that there are people who know more than what they say, but hide the information out of fear, I hope that those 60 thousand soles serve as a stimulus to find my Carlita, "he said .

Family seeks help finding woman who's been missing nearly 100 days in Peru

    [...]

Carla’s brother Carlos Valpeoz says their father has been in Peru since the days after she was reported missing on Dec. 15 in Lima, and the funds from the fundraiser will be used to support his investigative efforts into Carla’s disappearance.

“We honestly believe that if my father leaves that country, then this investigation is going to end very abruptly and it will most likely turn into a cold case,” Carlos said.

    [...]

“We don't have evidence that shows my sister entering the park. Throughout the entire investigation that has been the biggest question, whether she went in or not,” Carlos said.

Carlos tells 7 Action News that the family has been able to confirm some witness accounts of Carla in Pisac, but need assistance from the United States Government to find her.

“We’ve uncovered a lot of nefarious activities in the sacred valley.
