Authorities remain on the scene this afternoon in a wooded area of Woodridge where some children found skeletal human remains.
Two youths who were out for a walk about 1:30 p.m. Saturday found the remains in the 7900 block of Lemont Road, said Woodridge Police Sgt. Anthony Johnson.
Johnson said it's not known if the remains are male or female and declined to say what part of the body they appeared to be.

"They found what appeared to be skeletal human remains," he said.

Teeth were found on the remains, according to said DuPage County Coroner Richard A. Jorgensen.

On Monday a preliminary dental examination will be performed and they will be calling in a forensic anthropologist who is a bone specialist, Jorgensen said.

Jorgensen said they were still in the preliminary stages of the investigation and he did not know how long the remains had been there.

I'm not one to think anytime remains are found it could be Stacy, but damn, these are awfully close. :twocents:

Damn - that's almost too close. My DH said DP wouldn't put her that close to home. Then of course sometimes things are right under your nose and you can't find them.

Some family will be getting news of what happened to their loved one. There is also Lisa Stebic from Plainfield that is missing in the area.

ETA: My son worked at about 80th and Lemont Rd and one side of the street is all businesses - the other side is a couple of small homes with land around them and wooded area. On 87th and Lemont Rd there is the beginnings of a forest preserve - but 79th & Lemont - except for the land around a couple of small houses and a small wooded area I can't picture anywhere remains could be. Wow - just wow!

The article yesterday said that this area is locked to vehicle traffic, but one could walk there. It is apparently heavily wooded, with visibility of only about 30 ft.

Yes, Lisa Stebic comes to mind as well as John Spira. Whoever it turns out to be, I hope their family finally gets some answers.

It's also possible he put her close to keep an eye on her... still maintain control.

As much of a control freak as Drew obviously is/was that would certainly not surprise me one iota. Lisa Stebic is not far from my thoughts either.

I hope they are able to make a determination as to who this is, someone somewhere is missing this person and deserve to be able to bring them home.

    This waiting is terribly difficult.

Word is this area was a known dumping ground for Mafia back in the 60's & 70's, so who knows. Since teeth were found on the remains my guess is it is not a high profile case because they are taking so long.

It is very close. Not sure how many miles, but my understanding is only about a 25 minute drive.

Statistically speaking, that's about the distance for many/most dumps.

That area looks like a place a homeless person or transient might be camping.

depending on which roads you take it's not even a 25 minute drive. :)

I really wish it is Stacy so they can move forward with charges for her murder.

I thought Drew's half brother helped Drew load a large container into his truck , they took it to the ocean, put it on Drew's boat and dumped it in the ocean.

OR, am I thinking of another case (like the Fayhe case in DE.)

Anyway, Drew wouldn't put her too close to home, he's was too clever for that.

I hope they do find her some day.

I feel bad for the children that found the bones, how horrible for then.

Stacy's sister has already posted this is not her.
Yes 4Jacy was a large blue barrel that's what I understand. In 2009 they found a blue barrel in the river there with remains and made a big stir that might be Stacy, but turned out to be male, I don't recall them ever saying who that was either.

'Multiple Experts' Examining Human Remains Found in Woodridge

Multiple experts are examining human remains found by two children walking in a wooded area in Woodridge last month.

By Melissa Sersland April 16, 2013

Multiple experts are evaluating human remains found in Woodridge last month, according to DuPage County Coroner Richard Jorgensen.

Two children discovered the remains while walking in a wooded area near the 7900 block of Lemont Road in Woodridge March 30.

"We continue our investigation and do not have any further reports at this time," Jorgensen wrote in an e-mail. "We have multiple experts evaluating the remains and will do our best to communicate the results when they are finalized."

I've always thought that he put Stacy at a construction site where she was buried and will never be found. He was too crime savvy to put her anywhere where she would be found...ever. Unfortunately, I don't think that she will ever be found. :(
