Possible victims of alleged serial killer, Bruce McArthur 1970's-2018

re: Graham Pearce. Toronto Police apparently have evidence that a man who has since died, was the perpetrator in the 1983 Graham Pearce homicide. They believe it is solved, but have not named the now deceased killer. This news appeared in a National Post article Jan 14, 2017.

Copied from “Toronto Crimes Discussion” in websleuths: “On Wed, September 20th, 1978, Alex Leblanc, 29, a manager at a disco club, was found murdered in his St. Joseph St. apartment. No further information is available, including on the cause of death, but the deceased’s murder was one of a rash of murders of homosexuals in Toronto in the late 1970s and early 80s”

From WS thread Toronto Crimes, by Crimesolver: “Duncan Robinson, 24, was stabbed and slashed to death early on Sunday, November 26th, 1978 in the bedroom of his apartment on Vaughan Rd. His mutilated body was found by police on Tuesday after Robinson’s sister was alerted by his employer that he hadn’t shown up for work for two days.
The shy, well-dressed Robinson was seen leaving his apartment at 9:30 Saturday night on his way to a gay bar downtown. A neighbour said she had heard a strange hollow sound coming from Robinson’s apartment sometime between 11 p.m. and 12:30 a.m., but she had decided against calling police. Further investigation disproved the importance of what the neighbour heard, for witnesses saw Robinson leaving a Yonge St. tavern with a man at 2:30 a.m. The man was described as Caucasian, late-20s, with a lanky build, greasy brown hair past his ears, a scruffy goatee, sloping shoulders, dirty hands, a clumsy walk, and a foul body odour. He had asked bar patrons about buying drugs and was seen to roll his own cigarettes.
Robinson’ s murder was the 14th slaying of a homosexual man in 3 ½ years at the time, and there would be more to come in the ensuing years. Half of those 14 cases remained unsolved at the time. The circumstances of a number of the cases were very similar.”

CANADA - William Duncan ROBINSON, 25, Toronto, 28 November 1978

Copied from Crimesolver on WS: “46-year-old Larry Arnold disappeared on the evening of October 14th, 1994 from the Traxx gay bar at Yonge and Wellesley Sts. He was last seen in the company of a young man. Arnold’s badly beaten, decomposed body was found on November 19th in a ravine near Roxborough Dr. and Mt. Pleasant Rd. Arnold’s companion that evening was described as white, 25, stocky, 200 lbs, with long blond curly hair and blue eyes, and having a French Canadian accent. The man was believed to be a male prostitute, and Toronto police conferred with police agencies across North America believing the man may have been responsible for other murders of gay men. It is not known if any progress was made on that front.
Arnold, who lived in Chatham, a town 300 km southwest of Toronto, often came to Toronto to visit friends and go to bars and restaurants in Toronto’s gay district, Church and Wellesley Sts.”

Guilty plea solves Ontario murders, Alberta sex assaults
''It would be four years before Paul Alan Hachey confessed to the 46-year-old's murder, facing DNA evidence that linked him to another homicide and multiple sexual assaults, said Hind.

A friend, CBC News reported at the time, said Arnold had left an answering machine message saying he wouldn't be able to meet for dinner and that he was "having fun."

His body was found more than a month after he disappeared, in a wooded area near Rosedale's million dollar homes across from David Balfour Park, which was described at the time as an area "known for sexual cruising."

Killer Confession – Murder Village
''Suspect Name: Paul Alan Hachey
Conviction & Sentence: Pleaded guilty to second degree murder, sentenced to life with no chance of parole for 15 years''

CANADA - David MacDermott, 30, Kitchener, Ontario, 9 November 2002

rbbm.
Kitchener News | Local Breaking | CTV News Kitchener
''The 30-year-old had been at Club Renaissance in downtown Kitchener that Saturday night, celebrating a friend’s birthday.
After the bar, they went to his friend’s house.
That’s where the trail of MacDermott’s movements grows cold.''

''Whenever unidentified human remains are found anywhere in Ontario – or, sometimes, beyond – Darling receives calls from MacDermott’s family and other families wondering if they will finally get answers about what happened to their loved ones.

In MacDermott’s case, police now believe there is a specific, deliberate reason why remains have never been found.

“Whether Dave fell down and bumped his head and died or died as a result of an altercation, somebody still made a decision to hide his body,” Darling says.

“People don’t just disappear like this. There’s such a short window of time where Dave could left, disappeared or had something happen to him.”
MacDermott was bisexual – a fact police have never publicized before, but now say may help spread the word of his disappearance through the LGBTQ community and to someone who knows what happened to him.

“Hopefully somebody in that community recognizes that we’re still looking for answers,” says Stevens.''

Will have to look up links and start threads for all these people at some point, thank you for noting them!
Wondering if they should come under a different thread heading than potential victims of BM- unless his victim choice was different at that time (White Caucasian)unlike the dark complected victims he apparently targeted in recent years?

Posted these as they resemble BM’s M.O.
Often middle age men, often with pronounced facial hair, stabbed. Many in proximity of the gay village (Church & Wellesley St) or in potential “cruising spots” like parks. Those who were killed in their apartments or hotels might have been picked up in the gay village for sex. Note the early morning hours in which many of these victims were found, still breathing, after being stabbed.
