Oh yes I saw that, it was great! I also remember another one from Kilmarnock, Scotland called The Scheme, that was also good viewing ..

Mt Do-it or The Druitt (Mt Druit) as the locals call it was a vision of sort to declasse everyone back in the 1960's, in hindsight it was huge mistake as it's been generations all living under the same roof on benefits. Many know no better.

Many of the Housing Commision houses are being sold off to the public and the area is being swept clean. 'The Housos' as they are affectionately called are now being placed into nice homes dotted throughout nice communities and none of the neighbours know. The wonderful point to this is the children can see there is a better life, they see other working mums and dads and they can make a choice to live a better lifestyle, education and choose a better road to the future.

Have a giggle at the area, the locals love it!

So far it has been really good, not exploitative at all as far as I could tell. Funny though, the main couple in the show say they both went to jail for 12 months because a guy came over as a friend and they offered him a bit of marijuana they had in a bowl .. yeah right, not likely, lots more to that story, but who cares really. Good show, think SBS copped unnecessary flack and everyone should have watched it before complaining.

Seems the media agrees ...

IT’S 30 second promo caused such a public backlash more than 1500 people signed a petition to have the show canned.

But by the end of the first episode of Struggle Street, viewer reaction was more mixed with many questioning what all the fuss was about.
