I hope this is the correct forum in which to pose these questions. If not, happy to move it.

When skeletal remains are found, how is the range given for height calculated?
And is it ever a 'sure thing' as in: "The remains are of a woman 5'6"" without saying, "5'6" - 5'8"?"
    What accounts for the range?
Not trying to sound obtuse but I don't have any knowledge in this field.

Also, how is approximate weight calculated?
And also, the race of the remains?

I read through the thread on ID of gender/age/diseases and the way those factors are determined.
It was very helpful, but I have (oddly) specific questions that I didn't see an answer to in that posting.
    Thank you in advance.
