I grant that I'm usually wrong, and I await AZL's gentle correction, but I have a theory concerning Nurmi and an alternative to his 'difficult' and 'disappearing' mitigation witnesses.

If MDLR has been doing the job that the Arizona tax payers have been paying for, she should have been the one to unearth and interview these mysterious witnesses - friends, co-workers and family members - concerning any impact on Arias' earlier life, and what a darling little angel she was, pre-Travis.

After reading up on the role of a Mitigation Specialist, it appears that they can testify to their findings. Why then is Nurmi not putting MDLR on the stand to relate what these 11-14 invisible witnesses revealed to her?

Because, I predict, she is the one receiving threats and harassment on line (we know she took out a restraining order against a Mr. Weber) but, more importantly, remember 'Trial Diaries' reporting from the earlier Prosecutorial Hearing, tweeted:

"Juan -- This Mitigation Specialist that goes by cougarluscious has leaked info to Michael Kiefer and others constantly through out this case."

A subtle warning from the master of prosecutors.

YEP! I agree with you. I did some reading also. She's already done too much damage to herself, too bad. Well her contract is up Feb, 28, 2015, I do wonder if it will be renewed???? What a waste of an education. When I put her name in Google everything about her is negative, all related to this trial. She is made to look more like a party girl than a professional. She, like all the other DT experts would not stand a change against Juan Martinez.

Oooh, good point! To meet TSA requirements for carry on bottle, they can only hold a few oz like 3-5 oz. per bottle. I think the sunscreen was for Cancun.

Its amazing how many points of analysis can be brought to a couple little bottles of suntan lotion.

Do we really know what size bottles of stuff she usually carried? Besides the tidbit that cumulatively her shell-care products weighed many pounds?

I travel long distances a lot by car, sometimes for 2 week stretches. A small car fills up easily and quickly. Personally I use little travel bottles for shampoo and conditioner and lotion; toothpaste is the only regular size item I carry.

Her trunk was full of gas cans and water bottles, she was carrying camera equipment, a DVD player, and a computer, plus personal luggage, plus a gun and knives and whatever else. If she planned ahead on exiting TA's house quickly after killing him, maybe she didn't want to be carrying a lot of stuff and opted for small bottles.

Who knows. I don't think the size of her bottles or the fact she bought sun block equals she thought she was going to Cancun. She was hacking into his accounts. She knew there was not a ticket in her name, there was one for Mimi, and there was no way Mimi's ticket could be transferred to her even if Travis magically changed his mind.

Nope. Not Cancun.

But the SouthWest Airlines site was logged into June 4th @5:30, while he was in the shower, and right before the murder. When she saw Mimi's name, that had to be the final straw. Although she packed to murder him, she may still have held out hope that after sex with her, he'd change his mind and take her to Cancun- she really wanted that! I don't think she'd ever traveled outside of the United States. Is there any proof she ever went to Costa Rica- conveniently the same place Deanna did her mission??? And a whole week of sex with him- she'd screw up his budding relationships with Mimi and the new prospect Brooke. Maybe then he'd see the error of his ways and marry her!

On the other hand, it's possible that Jodi probably would've just shown up in Cancun, if she could've afforded to go. She needed Travis to pay for it, so she gives him a check that she knew would bounce, had sex with him and thought he would certainly agree to take her. She was prepared for this possibility as certainly as she was for the rejection.

It really frustrates me when kn says all 14 potential witnesses won't come forward Because they can't be guaranteed complete anonymity, but they will sing to the media, talk on social media openly and talk to whomever will listen. It comes down to they don't want to get a perjury charge, or face Juan on stand. It seems utterly disgraceful to our court system of the mockery they have made it. Some of those witnesses I assume he's talking about engage in cyberbullying, leaking sealed info, get on YouTube to beg for money. But according to nurms won't take the stand in front of the jury where they could possibly save her life.

That's because they are all liars, unprofessional, or didn't really know Jodi or she had them snowed. None of them are willing to risk having their credibility challenged, especially not Marc McGee, who can just make all his claims over the internet and get away with it. No way was Deanna an abused woman, not even by the Hughes's definition!!!
Even, let's say play devil's advocate, and say Travis did "abuse" Deanna by sleeping with her and not marrying her, how does it begin to justify his vicious murder or saving Jodi's life?????
I'm extremely unimpressed by the so-called computer experts Bryan N. and John Smith. We at WS as laypeople know more about computers than these so-called "experts" who don't know how registries work, about Spybot, or that ZLOB is a trojan, not a virus!!!

Truth is, who knows, eh? That woman, already significantly unbalanced, became homicidally deranged by late May 2008. She absolutely premeditated his murder and went there fully equipped to make sure he died.

Given that, I'm not sure she needed any extra provocation to get into a murder-mood. I personally think that she was no longer interested in being with an alive Travis. IMO it's also entirely possible that she wouldn't have felt compelled to kill him if he hadn't threatened to expose her for who she really is. If that was the threat which motivated her, Travis alive would remain a threat whether she went on a trip with him or not.

Problem is, who can figure out the workings of a deranged mind? So, revised, I really don't think Cancun was on her mind but concede anything is possible given who we're talking about.

I tend to agree with this argument. We can also add to 'not Cancun' reasoning - her rental car that she was suppose to return in a few days, plus her planned visit to Ryan's.

That is a good question! I’ve been wondering if Maricopa County would not renew her contract because of how unprofessional she is, including how she dresses. There was a few times where it looked like she had a large size man’s dress jacket on over what she was wearing. I wonder what will happen if this trial is still going on after Feb. 28, maybe nurmi will have to ask for an extension on her contract, and then use that for a reason why the DP should be removed.


I didn't think it was so much bullying as it was about her being unprofessional. The other MS I found had nothing like what she has out there. A few didn't even have a photo, the one I found looked very professional.

JSS "logic" was because she worried about appeals. This proves it below (from the COA ruling):

"Although expressing concern that Arias was being manipulative, the court stated it had considered the potential legal ramifications if an appellate court later determined that Arias did not voluntarily waive her right to present evidence in mitigation. As a result, the court closed the proceeding for Arias’ testimony. "

JSS worried about appeals so much that she threw away the constitution. She has also afforded JA and her DT much more leeway than what they should have been entitled all throughout this travesty of a trial. Things like letting the DT accuse the state of prosecurial misconduct and letting the DT openly trash Juan in front of the jury. It has been dispicable.

Like I had mentioned before, JSS needs to quit worrying about possibility of appeals and just make decisions that are confident, firm, fair to BOTH sides, and just follow the law in those decisions. Then she will be just fine. We already know the DT will appeal this case, so just make decisions that follow the law and there is nothing to worry about.

I think Bernina made a good point above about her pale skin and probably using the sunblock as a matter of course.

I think we're making too much of the little buy one get one free sunblock JA bought. I think it was nothing more than a impulse buy, she happened to see on her way back to or from getting the gas can in the store. Who can pass by a "BOGO" on the end of a shelf? JMO ~
