OPP searching for missing 54-year-old Wasaga Beach man, heavy police presence in area

''Huronia West OPP say they’re continuing to search for a missing 54-year-old Wasaga Beach, Ont., man who was reported missing on Tuesday, resulting in a heavy police presence in the area.

At about 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, Richard Kocik was reported missing from an address on George Avenue in Wasaga Beach.''

''BARRIE, ONT. -- Police have set up a command post in Wasaga Beach as they continue to search for a missing man.

Richard Kocik was last seen by his family around 11 on Monday night.

He was reported missing the next morning.''

"Provincial police and members from the Emergency Response Team, and the K9 Unit have been scouring the area on foot and ATV.

Richard Kocik has a medium build with a goatee and mustache. He has shoulder-length salt-and-pepper coloured hair and a footprint tattoo on his left arm, a heart tattoo on his left chest, and a family crest tattoo on his left shoulder.

Kocik's family is concerned for his well-being and are encouraging anyone with information to contact the Huronia West OPP at 705-429-3575."

Search discontinued for missing Wasaga Beach man, investigation still ongoing

Since July 7, OPP had been searching the area on foot, via ATV, in boats and in the air, resulting in a heavy police presence.

Searching officers have now cleared the area, while Kocik remains missing.

Kocik's wife believes he may be wandering or could have hitched a ride to Toronto, adding that he is familiar with the High Park and East Mall areas of the city.

"Anyone who has travelled Airport Road Monday night, Tuesday morning, picked him up or so much has seen him, please come forward and tell us where," she implored.

Kocik remains missing. OPP say the investigation will remain open, and continue under the direction of the Huronia West Crime Unit. Anyone with information or surveillance footage regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Huronia West OPP Detachment.

Investigators believe Kocik has ties to the Toronto area, and may have travelled to the GTA. Investigators are looking for any information or surveillance footage that may help them find Richard Kocik.
