Rocker Legend Tom Petty dies at 66

Gosh, the wife sounds like she was out of it completely.

Imagine you are in his situation and the only 2 people around are incapable of handling a 911 call much less performing CPR.

The chemistry of these two -

FWIW if you believe in such things, I have a late husband who will be smiling in Heaven tonight to see who just arrived.

My favorite singer of all time. So so so sad. :(

This has been a horrible year. :(

Rest in peace Tom. So many people are so sad to see you go so soon. My sympathy to your family, friends and your beloved bandmates.

I guess it was selfish to wish for him to stay around longer. So many songs that I had forgotten....

I Need to Know.

Rest in Peace Tom Petty

this one is tough. So sad that he worked so hard for so long, just finished his probable last tour, brought so much joy to so many, and just didn't get enough time to relax and enjoy his success.

As we are reminded here time after time, life isn't fair.

NPR has been running a wonderful story today with excerpts of his commentary from various shows and lots of his songs. He said several things that were unexpected and insightful and wow, he knew who he was and stuck to what was important to him.

Sad for all of those (so many of US here) who live on, missing him.

Tom Petty was a brilliant songwriter, an emotional, and an ethereally attractive man. His face stands out as one of the greats of all time.

His sound was BIG. -Full bodied and orchestral. What I love most in Petty is that he was unafraid in his music. His was his own sound.

God bless him

I like that folks I disagree with elsewhere on WS are able to come together for tributes like this one. We all know good music when we hear it/feel it. =)

And TP liked to bring people together, he said so himself.
