her family still has no answers.

How did Websleuths miss this?

"It all began when Mr Griffor heard a loud banging on the front door and went to investigate, but as he reached for the lock there was a blast, reported WCBD. He told all the children to get under the bed.

"I went to the room to tell the kids and wife “we’re safe” and turned on the light to find our daughter would not respond,’ he told WCBD. ‘My wife turned her and she was laying in a pool of blood.

"The bullets had went through the door, through the wall, shooting her in the head as she lay sleeping in her safe bed… I was injured in the incident, but our daughter was critically injured."

Since October, Richard Douglas has served as the voice for the Griffors, a family who fell victim to violence when someone fired shots inside their Charleston home. William Griffor was struck in the arm; however, his injuries were not life threatening. His daughter, Allison, died three days later.

After the shooting, the Griffors left South Carolina. Their new location is unknown at this time. "They do wish to keep that private. They are in fear of their lives," said Douglas.

As for if they'll ever return to the Lowcountry, Douglas says that likely won't happen at least anytime soon. "Knowing that their child's killer is on the loose in the area, they're just too scared to come here".

"Their whole life has been turned upside down, they don't know what the next step is, where to go, what to do."

This real-life nightmare has also taken its toll on Allison's older brother.
"He just started finally going to the bathroom on his own. He wouldn't go to the bathroom by himself. He still won't sleep in his bed."

The Griffor house incident may have been a case of mistaken address:

" Detectives say they don't know why the family was targeted, but Cannon says a burglar alarm that went off about 40 minutes later at another home on nearby Catterton Drive could yield some clues.
Deputies found marijuana in the Catterton Avenue house and a handgun was found in the mailbox. Investigators tracked down the homeowner, Juan Carlos Grant, to a home in North Charleston where a standoff with SWAT ensued. Grant eventually surrendered to authorities and was charged with trafficking marijuana.
The Catterton Avenue house incident was a half mile away from the Pierpont Avenue shooting.
"It's a little bit much of a coincidence to not look at it in the context of the shooting in terms of timing and distance," Cannon said.
Investigators say the suspects banged on the door twice just after 1 a.m. When the father approached the door, shots were fired through the door, hitting the man and also hitting the young girl in the head. She was in the front room\

It's been more than 3 years since the death of Allison Griffor, and still investigators have been unable to charge anyone with her murder.

“We believe we know who is responsible and they are currently serving time on unrelated charges,” Charleston County Lt. Chris Brokaw told News 2. “Our investigators are hoping someone will come forward with the right information that could be used to bring charges against our suspect(s).”

From June:

Charleston County Sheriff Al Cannon says four men may face murder charges four years after 5-year-old Allison Griffor was shot and killed during a home invasion in West Ashley. He identified them by hanging their photos on the wall: Phillip Moses, Franklin Glover, Shyrome Johnson and Levell Leonard Grant...

The case against Johnson and the identities of the other three men came in July 2014, Cannon said, when Johnson was stopped by North Charleston police on unrelated charges and arrested.

In a taped interview during that ride to jail, Johnson confirmed that he had been lying to Charleston County investigators about the shooting of Griffor. Investigators used that taped interview to corroborate evidence and identify the other three people before arresting him this week.

June 2015:

The documents state Johnson was located by Charleston police during a traffic stop minutes after the shooting in the proximity of the shooting area.

Over the course of the investigation, detectives say Johnson was developed as a possible suspect and/or witness, and on Nov. 9, 2011, was interviewed in reference to the shooting....

On July 17, 2014, he was arrested on an unrelated charge in North Charleston and asked to meet with a Charleston County detective, the affidavit states. He then admitted to lying in earlier interviews, admitted he was in the vehicle near the scene when the shooting happened, and named several parties who were present, the documents state.

Neighbors speak on murder of 5-year-old Allison Giffor five years later

Debra Lancaster lives down the street from the home.

"I couldn't imagine the horror that that must have been for that family," Lancaster said. "None of us knew that family, none of us knew that child, but it affected all of us very deeply that it happened so close."

Brittan Gotbeter lived in the neighborhood at the time of the shooting.

"Even five years later just to think that just one street over, we were laying in our beds that night and our children woke up the next morning and Allison didn't," Gotbeter said.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office provided a statement that says in part:

"Although no arrests have been made in this case, we do believe those who are responsible for committing this evil act are currently serving time in prison on unrelated criminal charges. Based on the information developed throughout this investigation, we continue to believe Allison Griffor and her family were not the intended targets."

''CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD)- Tuesday marks the 11-year anniversary of the murder of 5-year-old Allison Griffor and Charleston deputies are still working to piece together what happened.

It was 1:00 a.m. on October 25, 2011–a night the Griffor family will never forget.

In an exclusive interview with News 2 in 2012, Allison’s father, William, described that he heard a loud noise and sprung out of bed.

“It was like bang! It was a loud kicking. I was half asleep,” he said. “I yelled ‘hey’ through the door and then was a shot.”

At that moment, William opened the front door of his West Ashley home and was shot in the arm with pellets from a shotgun.

Another bullet went through an interior wall, lodging into Allison’s brain while she was asleep in her bed.''

''In the years that have followed, persons of interest were identified, but no one has been arrested and the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help once again.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact CCSO Detective Barry Goldstein at 843-554-2241.''

Griffor’s father told deputies that someone knocked on the door of the family’s Pierpont Avenue home at approximately 1 a.m. on Oct. 25, 2011. Before he could answer the door, someone fired a shotgun through the front door. A pellet from the blast went through a wall and struck Griffor as she slept in her bed, deputies said.

She was taken to MUSC where she died two days later.
