AIKEN, SC (WFXG) - The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a missing man.

Deputies were called out to the 800 block of Old Aiken Rd. in North Augusta on Jan. 20. Family members of 23-year-old Devante Arian Williams told deputies he was last seen at his home on that same street at around 8 a.m. Jan. 18.

Investigators are asking for the public’s help finding Devante. If you have any information, please contact the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office at 803-648-6811.

Cadaver dogs on Cato Road after tip about missing man

The South Carolina Canine Search Team was on Cato Road Tuesday to follow up on a tip about a missing person, but came away with nothing.

Cadaver dogs and the family of De'Vante Williams were out at the scene for several hours.

Investigators were called out to Cato Road last week after a tip about Williams.

Williams has been missing since January.

Williams' family came to the scene in hopes for answers.

Skeletal remains found in 2019 identified as missing Clearwater man

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office reported the discovery of skeleton remains in Burnettown in October 2019 after hunters found the remains and notified the Burnettown Police Department, Coroner Daryl Ables said.

Those skeletal remains have been positively identified as those of 24-year-old Devante A. Williams of Clearwater who was reported missing in January of 2019, Ables reported.

Williams was identified by a DNA profile that was obtained from one of the skeleton bones, that profile was later compared to a profile from his mother that confirmed his identification.
