A badly decomposed body of an "older" female has been found in a grassy field Monday night, and Horry County Police are searching for clues to determine who the woman might be. According to a police report, a teen and two friends were attempting to find sticks in order to build a fort along Palmetto Pointe Boulevard. The teen said as they were walking in the grassy area, they found what they thought was a dead body.
    ....(snipped)....
Officials with the Myrtle Beach Police Department tell WMBF News the body found is not that of missing teen Brittanee Drexel.
Tamara Willard, Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner, said the body found is that of an unidentified older female. She also said the victim was found with clothes between a size eight and a size 10.
The Coroner's Office believes the woman to be older because of evidence of graying hair, however, further tests will need to be done on the hair to determine if the graying hair is because of age or exposure to elements.

I hope they are able to identify her soon! I wonder if she's someone who had been reported missing or possibly a transient.

I wonder if it's this woman: Susan DeLuca
    http://www.carolinalive.com/news/story.aspx?id=472817

Would be nice to have a description of her. She went missing about an hour out of Myrtle - well that's where her car was found anyway, so we know she didn't get out of SC.

The area where this UID was found - the street dead ends and is at the very backside and end of a large neighborhood. Looks like lots of new and underconstruction houses in this neighborhood. It seems like an unlikely place for someone to walk to. But that's where my transient thought comes into play - could it have been someone staying in one of the houses under construction?

Also to me, it looks like an unlikely place to dump someone with all of the other places (national parks) in Myrtle (and SC) that a body could be placed.

there is another Asian woman fitting the general description, Yu Goodson, age 57 missing from Alabama on March 25, 2005. the drawback for this potential match is that they believe the body was in Myrtle Beach for less than one year.

they finally put this UID in Namus and they are doing a great job trying to identify her. (just a little sarcasm on that last bit)

no estimation of age, no estimated date of death, no dentals, no DNA (although it looks like they might have taken a sample because they made this note in the DNA section "need NamUs identification number to submit for testing"), the articles said she was found with hair but they did not put a color in the profile.

Namus profile says DNA has been submitted. It looks like about all they could tell from the remains is that she's a small Asian woman. Or else they're keeping some of the information private for some reason. Even the earlier information about being over 50 isn't included.

No ruleouts listed. Not surprising with nothing to go on.

Also, the circumstances is "not known at this time" - they do realise the circumstances in which the body was found, right? So - in a field, etc. Also, for clothing it's "jeans, shirt" and footwear is "shoes". Jeez. What kind of jeans? What sort of shirt? What size? Brand? What size of shoe?
