The sale listing for a 2007 Grady White 306 motorboat (V.I.N. # 1W7B13231F1002871), reportedly owned by Alex and/or Murdaugh, for sale on www.boattrader.com for $115,000.

i am serious when i say that i would be afraid to buy it; for fear of it later being seized for some reason or another. (not to mention the bad juju).

There is an interesting tidbit if you tap on the boat's name "Bad Boys" and then from the page you are taken to, tap on "Grady-White Boats, Inc" and go down to "Contact."

ETA: The same ES? Or, just a common name?
It was an interesting angle, but it turns out that it's a case of Eddie Smith being a common name. That's the name of the CEO of Grady-White, which is headquartered in Greenville, NC. Womp womp.

Earlier this month, over the Beach family’s objections, a state judge broke up the case and ruled there will be two trials for Beach’s death: one for store owner, Greg Parker, and the other for Murdaugh and other members of his family.

In a court hearing Friday in Hampton County, state Judge Daniel Hall is expected to hear arguments for and against about his decision to create two trials.

After looking up Parker's defense team listed in the article, it is interesting that three are medical malpractice defense lawyers (one of whom is a mitigation specialist) and the other is politically connected little-bit-of-everything lawyer.

I understand both sides point of view. Parker does not want to pay for AM's sins, and the Beach family lawyer wants to collect as much money as possible with Parker's on the hook for Alex's notoriety.

... and I do believe Beach's atty is probably sincere when he says he doesn't want the Beach family to have to weather two emotionally devastating trials.

Alex Murdaugh’s Defense Attorneys Seek Subpoena Powers

Attorneys for accused killer Alex Murdaugh want the power to issue subpoenas in connection with their defense of the notorious South Carolina ex-lawyer — who is facing a litany of charges (including two murder raps) tied to his central role in the still-unspooling ‘Murdaugh Murders’ crime and corruption saga.

In a motion filed on Friday in Colleton County, attorneys Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin — who have been keeping a low profile since receiving the state’s evidence against their client three weeks ago — asked S.C. circuit court judge Clifton Newman to allow them to issue subpoenas for “the production of documents relating to the defense of Alex Murdaugh in advance of trial.”

According to the motion (.pdf), the attorneys are seeking “evidentiary and relevant” documents and other materials to aid them in preparing for Murdaugh’s trial — tentatively scheduled for January 2023. <snipped … see below>

… continued from above…

According to Harpootlian and Griffin’s motion, they want authority from the court to “issue subpoenas for documents to be produced in advance of trial to avoid unnecessary delay.”

Harpootlian affirmed in an interview on Friday the subpoena request is not, to quote the court filing, “a fishing expedition.”

“We are focused on the simple question of innocence or guilt,” Harpootlian told me.

Harpootlian declined to speculate as to who might be on the list of possible subpoena targets — assuming Newman grants his request.

According to the filing, granting the motion and permitting defense attorneys to subpoena documents would “level the playing field with the state.”

“Defense counsel has been advised and is informed that the state continues to obtain search warrants and issue grand jury subpoenas for documents and other materials for use in the investigation and prosecution of the defendant at the upcoming trial,” the filing noted. …

Wow. Things are certainly tense in Hampton County, especially because the event (which is a common type of theatrical production) has nothing to do with this case.

Despite the fact that arts officials have repeatedly said their Murder Mystery Masquerade Party is not related in any way, the town’s resolution refers specifically to the “local tragedy” of June 7, 2021, when Maggie and Paul Murdaugh were shot and killed at their Colleton County home, leaving Alex Murdaugh charged.

The resolution states that Murdaugh’s crimes thrust the community into the national spotlight in an unfavorable way, “sparking division and mistrust throughout the community.”

The resolution further states that the Masquerade Ball, in its current format and theme, has served as a “further source of strife and division.”
Within two days of posting a story about this event, The Hampton County Guardian’s Facebook page received more than a hundred negative comments, which is well above average for a weekly newspaper posting, including calls for arts officials to be fired or “cancelled."
[An arts council member] claimed that headlines were the only thing linking this event to the Murdaugh saga, and added, “No one on the Hampton County Arts Council would ever celebrate the tragic loss of life of one of our neighbors or community members. The script was purchased more than a decade ago and not one character is modeled after anyone closely related to the Murdaughs.

<snipped> Yay!

A South Carolina judge on Tuesday reversed a key decision he made removing disbarred lawyer Alex Murdaugh and his family members from the Mallory Beach boat death lawsuit.

Judge Dan Hall ruled that the trial over who’s to blame and how much damages should be paid out in Beach’s 2019 death will begin Jan. 9 in Hampton County with all defendants — the Murdaughs and convenience store magnate Greg Parker — joined together.

Thanks for catching the story @girlhasnoname , Yay is right! I was amazed at this news so checked another source...the Murdaughs and Parkers will be tried together in Beach case

Circuit court Judge Daniel D. Hall reversed his own previous order and ruled Tuesday that disbarred and accused attorney Richard "Alex" Murdaugh and the Parker's codefendants in the Mallory Beach wrongful-death lawsuit will be tried together beginning Jan. 9, 2023.

<snipped> Things that make you go hmmmmmmmm....

A Beaufort County island co-owned by disgraced and disbarred South Carolina attorney Richard “Alex” Murdaugh and a deceased drug-smuggling suspect is up for sale, pending court approval.

This property that's for sale, known as “Island A,” is a 22-acre island that is the largest in the three Cherry Knoll Hill Islands, also called the “Williams Islands,” located off the coast of Beaufort, according to the court filing.

It's accessible only by boat and only during certain tides. It has a dock that suffered hurricane damage long before its approach to Ian and is not considered useable.

The island for sale is 50% owned by Murdaugh through Murdaugh Holdings and 50% owned by the Estate of Barrett Boulware, according to the court filing.

According to another filing on Sept. 1 by the co-receivers in Hampton County Court of Common Pleas, Murdaugh owns at least seven islands in and around Beaufort County ranging in size from 20.05 acres to .08 acres — all either directly as a co-owner with Boulware or as co-owner through an entity or joint venture.

This is a good informative article.
At the end, there is a summary of the various Murdaugh properties, showing the listing prices and potential sales.

Also... a great reminder of Boulware! What a criminal... He must have been quite the notorious character. And teacher.

ITA, I think Boulware and AM had quite the 'enterprise' going.

How did Boulware die anyway? Hah....

U.S. district court judge RG. scheduled an emergency hearing yesterday related to a piece of “critical evidence” that has emerged in the federal case against disgraced banker RL.

At the hearing, Laffitte’s attorneys – former U.S. attorney BD and former federal prosecutor MA – argued the recording should be introduced as evidence because it could shed light on what employees at PSB (and possibly PMPED) may have known about Laffitte’s alleged criminal conduct.

Daniel described the recording as capturing the contents of a closed-door meeting of the PSB board. During that meeting, the board discussed a bank transaction linked to Murdaugh and the PMPED firm.

This news outlet has confirmed the recording in question delves into a $680,000payment made from PSB to PMPED in October of 2021 – not long after Murdaugh allegedly attempted suicide by hiring one of his check cashers, Curtis “Eddie” Smith, to shoot him in a bizarre roadside incident that attracted international headlines.
