Shannan Gilbert Found, death declared an accident. What do you think?

Blue WAS NOT looking for Melissa. We proved a while back that it was a typo/misquote in one publication. With so many victims plus SG missing, they have made this sort of error on more than one occassion. Blue was searching for Shannon. That is the name that was supposed to have been spoken. they stated Melissa's name in error because Melissa was found as a result of the search.

Prior to the discovery of the GB4, the police didn't have a clue whether they were even on Long Island (never mind dead).

to my knowledge, no one proved there was a typo/misquote on Blue.

Here's my post where they state Blue was actually looking for Waterman (not Barthelemy as I had originally thought)

I tend to trust the NY TIMES and the SCPD over a Patchogue supermarket paper and the American Kennel Club.
The investigation was prompted by the search for Shannan Gilbert, a 24-year-old prostitute from Jersey City who disappeared in the area last May and remains missing. One month later, the department’s missing persons bureau asked Officer Mallia to search for Ms. Gilbert.

“I assumed we would find her,” he said. “I assumed she was dead. Nobody had a clue.”

Over the summer, the officer and Blue searched the gated beach community where she was last seen, but came up with nothing.

On Dec. 11, he returned, this time venturing west. He said he stuck close to the shoulder of the parkway, because the vegetation was so thick and because data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation showed that when bodies were dumped, most were disposed of about 30 feet from the road. That afternoon, shortly before 3 p.m., Blue picked up a scent on the parkway.

Actually, my apology to the AKC. They got the story correct.

On December 11, 2010, John and Blue were requested to search for a missing woman in the Gilgo Beach area of Long Island, NY. They located the remains of a different woman in an area covered with dense brush and later unexpectedly found three additional sets of human remains, all of which were believed to be victims of the same serial killer. Just one week later, the team recovered the remains of a person in an unrelated case, once again bringing closure to a victim’s family. Blue is tireless and focused in the performance his duties and goes to work eagerly each day.

So as someone else pointed out, the Long Island Advance misquoted the AKC and inserted Waterman into the story where Gilbert should have been. Those reporters are 20 year olds. Cannot blame them.

No, it is uncommon. Just go and read the escort review boards, the clients of these women would definitely be freaked out by that - in general they don't want anyone other than themselves and the escort around, especially not anything resembling a pimp or a family member (another escort is ok). If the escort brought her kid along they would mention that in the reviews for sure, because it would be seen as a huge red flag and exposure to risk.

If you doubt me, go to one of these boards and ask - I'm pretty sure that the posters there would be mostly horrified by the idea.

Only a small percentage of an escort's clients post reviews on those sites. It would be very uncommon for an escort to bring a toddler on an appointment but if a close relationship has been established between the escort and the client, its possible. A manipulative client trying to insert himself into the escort's life will go so far as to buy gifts for the escort's children and take them on family like outings. The young escorts who don't screen their clients and drug addicted escorts would be the easiest targets for a sexual predator as the LISK.

The LISK victim profile seems to be either an actual streetwalker or an escort that provides a "cardate" service where she meets and does the sexual act in the client's vehicle. This may be why the baby was along for the ride. It probably wasn't planned too much ahead of time and the victim was previously familiar with the client so she felt comfortable enough to bring along her baby.

I'm sure LISK has never murdered a prostitute to stage by killing her at her incall(her location of business) or at his own outcall location(his home\hotel) as that could leave a trail and it's also difficult to drag a body out of a hotel because of potential witnesses in such a busy location. This does not rule out that he may have killed at an escort's incall but left the body behind.

He most likely has visited his victims at their incalls for a few appointments before setting up the kill appointment to gain trust with the victim beforehand. Very few escorts offer cardates and trust must be built first in most cases(way more incalls\outcalls than cardates offered in escort ads).

I don't see our guy killing a child. Period. If a girl showed with a baby, he would have waited until later when he could get her alone, imo. He courted these girls...there would certainly have been other, childless opportunities.

LISK isn't a child killer. No power/control in that. Especially not leaving a baby wrapped in a blanket to die of exposure. Uh uh.

ETA: Unless, of course, this was a girl he courted for some time and he thought the child was his. If she threatened to expose him to his wife, then, maybe. But otherwise, I simply can't see him murdering a child.

The baby was actually a toddler. So there is no way it could have been left there wrapped in a blanket to die from exposure. Unless it was immobilized in some way.

You know all this speculation is great and all, but we do have actual information that the perpetrator's con is that he run's a halfway house/rehab for runaway girls who want to get off of the street. Regardless of who you believe made this phone call, it does fit perfectly when you consider a woman and her child went missing without a matching Missing Persons report being filed.

I think the child was an inconvenience and was killed for that reason. Seeing as this guy enjoys psychologically torturing people -as evidenced by his phone calls to a few of his victim's families- I wouldn't be terribly surprised if he killed the child in front of the mother. But I agree, this isn't part of his usual M.O.

So yeah, about this autopsy report. I sure as hell dont think it will be released to the public.

It will be 3 months on Tuesday and they still have not released her remains to her family for burial.

Interesting video with a photo of SG with her mom and dad as well as an interview with a family friend who speaks about how SG was a difficult child who had to live in foster care because suffered mental illness, refused to take her meds, etc...

Seaslug, I saw the video of the flight attendant who had a break with reality this morning and thought of SG because it was reported that the woman is bi-polar and hadn't taken her meds. I had no idea how individuals who are bi-polar can have such a severe reality break without their meds. It is sad that SG had to struggle with this mental illness.

You might want to try the link on a mobile device if you have one. The link is for the mobile version of youtube.

Maybe Seaslug can provide us with the non-mobile link?

Think I got it...
