Sidebar from 6/24 released

There was mention early in this case that he visited a lot of 'Escort' sites online, so gambling may not be his only weakness. Haven't heard the SA reference that though...

Escort sites, oh no. What a mess.

Why didn't Cindy hide her checkbook? You'd think after the first couple dozen stolen checks, that thought would occur to her.

It's not known who looked up the Escort sites, it could have been Casey, looking for a job. Probably got turned down for being over qualified.

So Casey forged her mother's signature on those checks, wow.

Hundreds of checks, no telling how much money. I wonder in what time frame?

They all have warped thinking when it comes to criminal activity. CA is the one who called ICA's cleaning out AH's bank account "a simple misunderstanding between friends"..

Wow, her mothers a fool if they were all stolen. If my kid stole one i'd be pissed but if it happened more i'd call the cops, not because i wouldn't want to help him but because i would want him to know their are consequences to dishonest actions.

I wonder why cindy allowed this? This makes me wonder why she didn't suspect no job sooner! If your daughter is having to steal your checks when she has her own income with no rent/utilities then she's either doing drugs or isn't really working!! This family is so messed up.Cindy wrapped Casey in cotton wool and IMO her ignorance towards her daughters check writing hobby is partly to blame for Casey stealing from others, because she never reaped any consequences.

One thing i am learning from this trial is how NOT to parent!
Oh heck yeah. Amen to that!

:floorlaugh:

I bet they know, just like all the other searches, by the time of day they were done and cell phone pings as to who was home...

It's interesting to me that Linda Drane-Burdick clearly warns Cheney Mason and Jose Baez (starting at Page 15, Line 25) that talking about the 'family dysfunction' will open up a can of worms for the defense, but even morte eye-opening, is Baez' response:

LDB: And, you're going to open the door to her criminal activity.

CM: I'm sorry?

LDB: You're going to open the door up to her criminal activity, to Ms. Anthony's criminal activity.

CM: Why, by talking about George?

LDB: By talking about family dysfunction.

CM: Uh-huh.

JA: You think you're going to be able to keep out all the stealing if you start that? That's what she's saying.

LDB: There's hundreds of checks that she wrote on her mother's account. Hundreds.

*** Baez: It's her mother.

Well, okay then, Baez.
I guess it's okay to have murdered Caylee, too, then.

Afterall, Caylee was her daughter, right?

:twocents: VOILA!...so NOW we've "seen"/heard Baez's convoluted logic as applied to the LAW........you know, the LAW which is meant as an assistance to AVOID chaos within a society! :banghead::banghead::banghead:

JUST OMGoodness! :truce:

Can the paycheck of one spouse be garnished for the debts of another spouse in Florida? That does not seem right.

I really believe Cindy allowed it to go on because Casey would threaten to take Caylee away and never let them see her if they didn't play by her rules. That belief was reinforced even more after hearing of all Cindy's beloved animals dying. I really believe Casey held her mother by the you-know-whats as soon as Caylee was born and Cindy didn't know how to take control back. IMO.

Or press charges.

I would have. I would want him to know what jail is like and hopefully decide he never wants to be there again.

It doesn't seem right but if he gambled online using her checking account or credit cards the debt would probably be assumed to be her's unless she fought it in court. Then it would be his and she'd have to pay it anyway so what would be the point?

One thing this might explain is our wondering what Casey was doing for money over the two years she did not work. Hundreds of checks indicates long-term check writing.

And Cindy was allowing this, obviously. So Cindy knew all along that Casey was not working? And Cindy was not sharing this info with George? And when George gets suspicious, goes to the Sports Authority and learns that Casey has never worked there, and tells this to Cindy, she tells him to back off and not be negative?

The fact that hundreds of checks written on Cindy's account by Casey were found by LE - probably fairly early on in the case - puts a a lot of things into better perspective.

I hope we get more sidebar transcripts!

IMO Cindy tried, she closed accounts, she went & talked with a counselor who told her to toss Casey and Caylee to the curb. Cindy couldn't do it....she loved her grand daughter too much. That's the guilt and hell Cindy has to live with.

:twocents: IMHO, SURE.....if the credit card used was a JOINT ACCOUNT!..

"shared" responsibility...shared utilization :innocent:

You would be shocked to learn how much I know about that.

I *think* what GA did was use one of Cindy's credit cards to gamble. If he did, if Cindy didn't file charges on GA (if he was authorized to use it or not), then she would eventually become responsible.

My husband passed away in 2007. I was only responsible for the debts that had both our names on it.

I think ICA was using Caylee as blackmail and also saying she was buying stuff for Caylee. Still, at some point, I would have called Casey's bluff and opened a new account, set it up online with no statements coming to the house and kept my spare checks at the office. Did ICA ever overdraft Cindy's account? How did she keep enough to pay bills?
